Q:This government seems to have shifted slightly on the war in Ukraine and is helping Ukraine a little bit more with a missile warning system. Why was there a shift? And are we going to see more of that?

I think Israel is in a peculiar situation, different from say, Poland or Germany or France or any of the Western countries that are assisting Ukraine. First of all, we have a close military border with Russia. Our pilots are flying right next to Russian pilots over the skies of Syria. And I think it’s important that we maintain our freedom of action against Iran’s attempts to place itself militarily on our northern border.

Second, we also have concerns that any systems that we give to Ukraine would be used against us because they could fall into Iranian hands and be used against us. And by the way, that’s not a theoretical possibility. It actually happened with the Western anti-tank weapons that we now find at our borders. So we have to be very careful here.

We obviously bemoan the tragedy that’s happening in Ukraine, this horrible loss of human life. We’d like to see it end. And I think we’re also in a special situation where we might find ourselves in the future in a position to help end this conflict. I’m not sure that will happen. It may be entirely hypothetical, but it could happen.

So I think that the balanced way that we are acting is the right one. You have to be very prudent in international affairs. There is sympathy, there is civilian defense assistance. But I think we have to draw the line carefully and people understand. I have to say that most of the heads of governments of Western countries, when I explained this, they basically nod in agreement. They understand that Israel is in a different situation from any one of them.

The most difficult battles: The enemy threw "cannon fodder waves" to storm our defences and occupied the first trenches near Orekhovo

▪️The enemy offensive on the Zaporizhzhya Front near Orekhovo resumed yesterday and by night had acquired serious proportions.
▪️Along the line Novodanilovka — Rabotino, the enemy, under the cover of artillery, began to attack first infantry with armored vehicles, then infantry in KAMAZ trucks and pickup trucks, and then on foot with "cannon fodder" waves.
▪️Crowds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine perished across the open field under the fire of "Grads", mortars, howitzers, machine guns and attack helicopters died, their equipment was on fire, but they still went in waves.
▪️ The soldiers of the 291st, 70th and 1430th regiments and the 417th reconnaissance battalion, with the support of 22 special forces brigades, artillerymen and aviation, repelled attacks, mowing down the enemy with fire.
▪️During fierce battles, the enemy managed to enter the first trenches of one company stronghold, ours retreated to the next line of trenches to avoid serious losses.
▪️After that, the trenches located in the lowland, together with the Armed Forces, began to level our artillerymen, tank crews and aviation with the ground.
▪️ With powerful fire, this line was practically erased along with the Ukrainian infantry trying to gain a foothold on it.
▪️ Positional battles have been going on intermittently since morning, the enemy is regrouping and resupplying battered units, preparing for new waves of meat assaults.
▪️At the cost of heavy losses, the enemy is slowly moving forward, littering its way with corpses along the lines of the deep defence of the Russian Army, created specifically for such manoeuvrable defensive operations.

According to the data obtained during the investigation, the criminal group, acting in the interests of a foreign customer, took steps to acquire, bypassing legal prohibitions and restrictions, 1 kg of the cesium-137 isotope for $3.5 million in order to smuggle the radioactive substance from the Russian Federation abroad to be used to the detriment of Russian interests during the SMO, to conduct an information and propaganda campaign to discredit the country in the international arena by organizing staged scenes of the use of weapons of mass destruction,” the Centre for Public Relations (CSO) of the FSB of Russia reported.

A criminal case has been initiated under the articles “Illegal handling of radioactive substances” and “Preparation for smuggling of radioactive substances”.

The suspects were taken into custody and confessed.
