Since the beginning of 2023, the State Customs Service, together with the Ministry of Defence, discovered 653 cases of non-receipt of humanitarian aid by the military

Customs officers note a significant increase in cases of violations of the legislation related to the movement of humanitarian goods.

According to the results of joint checks by the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine regarding the receipt by military units and territorial centres of equipment and social support of goods that were moved across the customs border to their address as humanitarian aid, during January-May 2023, 653 cases of non-confirmation of receipt were established such cargo as plates for body armour, night vision devices, thermal imagers, drones, motor vehicles and others.

The created mechanism for monitoring the arrival of humanitarian aid goods to military units allowed to check more than 5,000 facts of the movement of humanitarian aid goods to the address of about 100 military units.

As a result, in 5 months of 2023, the State Customs Service drew up 115 protocols on violations of customs rules, where the objects of the offenses were goods imported into the customs territory of Ukraine as humanitarian aid, and sent 159 reports to law enforcement agencies about an illegal act containing signs of a crime provided for in Article . 201-2, 358 and 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

For comparison, during the entire year of 2022, the customs of the State Customs Service drew up 100 similar protocols on violations of customs rules, and sent 29 reports to law enforcement officers about an illegal act containing signs of a crime provided for in Article 201-2, 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
