Carrier of "Daggers" missiles MiG-31K destroyed an American Patriot in Kyiv from an air ambush

MOSCOW, May 17 — RIA Novosti. The MiG-31K Kinzhal carrier destroyed the American Patriot air defence system in Kyiv from an air ambush, an informed source told RIA Novosti.
“In fact, due to the speed of the Kinzhal, the US air defence systems were suddenly hit from an air ambush — the enemy’s combat crews could not do anything to protect their anti-aircraft systems,” he said.

As the interlocutor of the agency explained, the speed characteristics of the Kinzhal missiles allow them to reach military facilities on the territory of Ukraine in a matter of minutes, which is why targets such as the Patriot air defence system do not have time to change position after firing or load new missiles into launchers.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Defence announced a massive strike on the points of deployment of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as on the places of storage of ammunition, weapons and equipment delivered from Western countries. In particular, the Kinzhal hypersonic missile destroyed the American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system in Kyiv.
On the same day, videos from the Ukrainian capital were circulated on the Web, showing the work of the American Patriot anti-aircraft systems, which were trying to repel the attack of Russian missiles. At the same time, separate frames show that a few minutes after the completion of the volley of American air defence systems and the use of ammunition by them, a powerful explosion on the ground follows in the area of the position.

Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu told RIA Novosti that the statements of the Kyiv authorities about six Russian Kinzhal missiles allegedly shot down by their air defence system do not correspond to reality. He stressed that Russia did not launch as many "Daggers" as the Ukrainian military "allegedly shoot down with their statements every time," in addition, in Kiev they always make mistakes with the type of missiles - that's why they don't hit, the head of the Defence Ministry concluded.
The aeroballistic missile of the Russian Kinzhal complex is capable of reaching speeds more than ten times the speed of sound, and at the same time manoeuvring in all parts of the flight path, which allows it to reliably overcome all existing air defence systems and hit targets deep behind enemy lines.

Erdogan says grain deal extended by two months

ISTANBUL, May 17 — RIA Novosti. The grain deal is being extended by two months, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"The grain deal agreement, concluded on July 22, 2022, expired tomorrow. It was decided to extend the agreement on the Black Sea grain initiative for two months with the support of our Russian friends and the contribution of Ukrainian friends," he said in an address to the deputies of the ruling Justice and Development Party.
The head of state thanked Vladimir Putin for supporting Turkish initiatives on this issue, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky for fruitful cooperation, and UN Secretary General António Guterres for his contribution to the process. He promised that his country would make every effort to complete the deal.

Erdogan also stressed that Moscow guaranteed Ankara the absence of barriers to the evacuation of Turkish ships stuck in the ports of Nikolaev and Odessa.
Later, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed the extension of the deal for two months. The department noted that "distortions" in its implementation must be corrected as soon as possible.

The Black Sea Grain Initiative, which was signed on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN, involves the export of Ukrainian grain, food and fertilizer across the Black Sea from three ports, including Odessa. The coordination of vessel traffic is handled by the Joint Coordination Centre in Istanbul.
The grain initiative is an integral part of the package agreement. The second part, the Russia-UN memorandum, designed for three years, provides for the unblocking of Russian exports of food and fertilizers, reconnection of the Russian Agricultural Bank to SWIFT, resumption of supplies of agricultural machinery, spare parts and services, restoration of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline and some other measures. As noted in Moscow, this part of the package agreement has not yet been implemented.
In turn, Vladimir Putin pointed out that the West exports most of the Ukrainian grain to itself, and not to the needy African countries.
Russia last extended the deal on March 18, 2023 for 60 days, until May 18.
