Surveillance is everywhere in China
Chongqing premiered Real-Name System for water services
The Chinese Government has been expanding the use of real-name system nation-wide. Now even water service needs an identity card. Recently, a water company in Chongqing notified citizens that they have to apply for water cards with their identity cards. Some commentaries point out that the Chinese Communist Government is attempting to monitor every civilian’s acts in order to control the society in a greater extent.
The water company in Chongqing sent notifications to the local residents on 17 October saying they must register for a water card with their identity cards on either 26 or 27 October in the company office. The notification reminded residents to bring proof of property ownership for the registration if the house owner had passed away or the names are different from the record. When the reporter called the water company for the reason of registration, the personnel responded that it was the arrangement by the government. “That is the arrangement for registration. The government official has set the rule, so we have notified the residents about the arrangement. The residents have to take the required document for the registration, I don’t know the reason behind it anyway”.
A Chongqing resident Mr. Wan told Radio Free Asia that his neighbourhood had posted notifications of the real-name system for water cards as well. He believed that such system was not created for the convenience of the residents, but that of the government to monitor the people. Beijing political observer Hua Po said “real-name system in water card registration is the tactic used by the Chinese Communist government to monitor every citizen’s actions. This is like block chain technology or big data that encompasses everything. This kind of big data makes it easier to control the society”.
In recent years, the Chinese government has launched real-name systems in various fields, apart from the previous real-name system for internet services and chef’s knives purchases. Beijing launched real-name system for using public toilets during the National Day celebrations, and caused discontents among the citizens. The telecom department has tightened the requirements for telephone services. One of the tactics is to match telephone number to account holder's image, such that only compatible numbers could get on the network.
A Jiangsu netizen Mr. Hung feels that China is currently a real-name system country. Every civilian lives under the surveillance of the government. One is unable to do anything without an identity card.

Сайты у них уже стали субъектом права, и обладают разумом, волей и прочими объективными и субъективными сторонами. Потому что тупые мусора, прокуроры и судьи не хотят и не умеют ловить наркоторговцев, мерзавцы в погонах и мантиях хотят цензуру, как в России и Китае. Овощ ведь вошел в историю, как диктатор не единомоментно. "Чтобы наглядно показать масштабы воздействия Научной Революции на культуру Европы, Вуттон предлагает сравнить познания и мироощущения ее интеллектуально продвинутых жителей разных времен. В конце XVI столетия типичный хорошо образованный европеец (Вуттон ради определенности говорит о британском джентльмене) почти наверняка допускал существование ведьм и оборотней и не сомневался в надежности алхимии и астрологии. Он верил, что природа боится пустоты, магниты теряют силу под действием чеснока, труп кровоточит в присутствии убийцы, кометы предвещают бедствия, а правильно понятые сновидения предсказывают будущее. Он принимал как аксиому, что Земля неподвижна и пребывает в центре мироздания (хотя, возможно, кое-что слышал о Копернике). Он считал Аристотеля величайшим интеллектуальным авторитетом во всей истории человечества, а его познания о природе ограничивались изучением трудов Плиния Старшего, Галена и Птолемея или, что вероятней, их популярных изложений. У него была и личная библиотека — два-три десятка книг.
Теперь, продолжает Вуттон, перенесемся вперед на полтораста лет, примерно в 1730 год. В это время британец с тем же социальным и образовательным статусом обладал куда большими научными знаниями, чем его современник во Франции, Италии, Германии и даже Нидерландах. Скорее всего, ему уже довелось посмотреть и в телескоп, и в микроскоп, и он знал, как устроена Солнечная система. У него были хорошие часы, а возможно, и ртутный барометр, с помощью которого он следил за погодой. Он не верил ни в ведьм, ни в оборотней, ни в волшебников, ни в зловещие предзнаменования, связанные с кометами. Он прекрасно понимал, что радуга — это не божий знак, а результат преломления солнечного света в дождевых капельках. Он слышал или читал о паровых машинах, а возможно, что и наблюдал их в работе. 403 pages of internal documents that have been shared with The New York Times provide an unprecedented inside view of the CCP clampdown in Xinjiang.
(16-Nov) The authorities have corralled as many as a million ethnic Uighurs, Kazakhs and others into internment camps and prisons over the past three years.
The CCP has rejected international criticism of the camps, and described them as job-training centers that used mild methods to fight Islamic extremism.
Children saw their parents taken away, but officials claimed they were invited to treatments to remove “infection from unhealthy thoughts, virus in thinking.” But the children cannot fight against the CCP, officials warned them, “Family members, including you, must abide by the state’s laws and rules, and not believe or spread rumors. Only then can you add points for your family member. And after a period of assessment, they can leave the school if they meet course completion standards.”
Across China, Xi set about eliminating challenges to party rule, as dissidents and human rights lawyers disappeared in waves of arrests. In Xinjiang, he pointed to examples from the former Soviet bloc to argue that economic growth would not immunize a society against ethnic separatism. Xi said “Xinjiang's standard of living has consistently risen, but ethnic separatism and terrorist violence have still been on the rise. This goes to show that economic development does not automatically bring lasting order and security. Ensuring stability in Xinjiang would require a sweeping campaign of surveillance and intelligence.”
