Secret-Cinema News:
Upload Guidelines and Moderation:
Uploads are the backbone of Secret Cinema, and we have tremendous appreciation for the work everyone puts into sharing material with the community. Huge thanks to each and every one of our uploaders!
In this context, we have recently noticed an uptick in uploads that did not accord with Secret Cinema's spirit. Some of these were the result of insufficient acquaintance with our upload guidelines, but some were clearly the result of insufficient guidance on our part. As part of our commitment to greater clarity, we have written refurbished upload guidelines and we ask all users to read them to get a better idea of what fits here and what does not.
Moreover, following some feedback from the community, we have also introduced some internal changes in how staff handles uploads, in order to ensure streamlined and consistent moderation of content. We hope this, too, will enhance clarity.
Seeding Points:
Introducing Seeding Points a few months ago was an experiment which has proved to be a success as time passed. Having said that, the formulas for calculating Seeding Points required additional tweaks for them to properly do their job. We have introduced significant changes to these formulas, which are likely to have changed your seeding rank (for better or worse, depending on whether you were a bad boy or a good boy)
As of today, your seeding points are a function of: (1) all torrents you are actively seeding; (2) all torrents you are seeding for long time; (3) all torrents with few seeds you are currently seeding. A fuller explanation can be found in the wiki.
Finally, we would like to use this opportunity to issue a friendly reminder... Secret Cinema is ratioless so that you do not have to fret about your ratio. It does not mean you are free to hit and run. If you refrain from seeding, bad things will happen. So seed!
A New Promotion Path:
As an appreciation to our top seeders, we have introduced a new promotion path: seeders in the top 95th seeding percentile will qualify for the Cashier class irrespective of their other stats.
Invites:
Similarly to other trackers, we now regularly hand out invites twice a month to Critics and top seeders among our Cashiers. Subject to our invite rules (read them!), please feel free to invite anyone you personally know and trust will be a good member of our community.
Enjoy!!
