Redacted News - Redacted Turns Three! (Day One)
Traditions. Traditions are important. Today, Redacted is three years old! November 23 will always be a special date for all of us (and hopefully you) to be thankful for What was, is, and will infinitely be with respect to music discovery around the world. Without you, the consumer, the uploader, the seeder, the editor, the comment maker, the infinite contributor, we would not exist here today as a community. Thank you infinitely for being a part of our ongoing journey. After all, Music makes the world go ‘round. To begin our period of celebrations*, there are many individuals to thank which have propelled Redacted into a site close to all of us.
*=Celebrations are subject to last through a period of November to the end of December. Terms and conditions may apply, however, music consumption is necessary.
Staff Promotions & Changes
Next up in the queue, it's only fitting to mention a few words about those who have truly gone above and beyond over recent weeks. Over the course of the last few weeks, there have been a few very well deserved class changes. Taking a step back, day-to-day Moderation efforts on Redacted are completely volunteer (long) hours, and without every essential internal team member, this website simply would not be the thriving passionate community it is to date. All staff members and community-driven positions work alongside the community on a daily basis.
A huge congratulations goes out to Veritas, who has recently been promoted to Sysop. Veritas has been a key asset driving Redacted to thrive on a daily basis since the site was in its infancy. While much work Veritas completes has largely been behind the scenes, taking the responsibility of leading the interviewing team is no simple task, and we are lucky to have such a motivated individual at this position.
Next, two individuals must be recognized for their outstanding work within the Torrent Management space. Alchemy and Zeitgeist have been promoted to Senior Moderator. Influential and diligent with daily contributions to resolve many reports generated out of care for the site, both of these titans are huge assets to Redacted. In a user space, both of these individuals have always been there to timely resolve conflict in a courteous fashion.
Please congratulate Veritas, Alchemy, and Zeitgeist on their very well earned promotions!
Last, but not least, another birthday treat certainly worth celebrating: the return of Developer Ulmo! We can't wait to see their development efforts over the next few months. Watch this space.
Redacted Recommendations: First Line Support
This year's birthday celebration recognizes individuals who give generously of their time and energy to keep our site running smoothly. We begin with recommendations from some of our incredible hard-working Front Line Support team members. FLS tirelessly assist our users by answering questions about a wide range of site-related topics according to their specialties noted on our staff page. If you should have a question, they're here for you. Please be sure to treat them with the utmost respect and read this article prior to reaching out. That said, they are here to serve you and help you become a more knowledgeable and active member of our community! Thanks and much love to our incredible FLS team! For grabbing these or any other releases you would like (see conditions below), please enjoy 25 freeleech tokens which you should now see added to your account! Important note: As always, remember RED Rec's are not freeleech

[Cinemageddon] Freeleech ending soon and Christmas Card Contest!
Horror & Gore freeleech will be coming to an end in the next 12-36 hours. This is the best notice you're going to get.
The Christmas Card Contest
Every so often, some brave and bold member will create a contest for the rest of you to earn some kind of prize. This year, w@-ske##⭐️ has taken it upon themselves to revive the Christmas Card Contest. A once long standing tradition of ours wherein our members show off their MSPaint (or whatever shitty equivalent exists on Mac & Linux) in the form of a Christmas card, Cinemageddon style.
This year's prize structure is as follows:
1st place 2500 credits + 200GB upload
2nd place 1000 cr + 100 GB upload
3rd place 500 cr + 50 GB upload
and the worst of the bunch will get a lump of coal in the form of one credit (at least).
For a lot more words with rules and what have you, visit the Christmas Card Contest thread.

RED's IRC server has been affected by a DDOS attack.
This is the post from staff in the forum:
"Hi all,
As you may have noticed, our IRC server is currently offline. Our first IRC server outage was due to an unexpected, unjustified ddos attack. We managed to spin up a new IRC server and restore services, but when we asked the host why our original server was down, they suspended the entire account after finding out we received the abuse complaint for ddos.
We are negotiating with the host on restoring our services, but we have no ETA at this time. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, services may not be restored as quickly as we hoped, but we will be trying to get services back online before the weekend.
Thank you for your patience while we get things back online.
Regards, zed"

[Redacted | RED] - Credential Stuffing Attack
Many of you may be aware of an ongoing credential stuffing attack. This is a kind of attack where stolen account credentials containing lists of usernames and passwords are used to gain access to user accounts. You may have seen messages in your inbox indicating login failures.
The key to thwarting these types of attacks are to use a unique and strong passwords to secure your RED account. Two factor authentication is an extra step that is strongly recommended. Instructions on how to enable 2FA on your RED account is available at Two-Factor Authentication.
You are responsible for your account, even if it is compromised. Make sure you keep your account safe. If your RED password is a password you use on other sites, please change your password now.
