This poem by my 12 year old son...In Fields Of Iraq by George Attwood

In fields of Iraq, the poppies grow
Amidst the rubble and the woe
The sky is filled with smoke and ash
And soldiers' bodies lay in a stash

We fought for freedom, fought for pride
But all we found was pain inside
The heat, the dust, the endless fight
A war that took its toll all night

But still, we rise, and still we stand
With rifles in our hands
We'll honour those who fell before
And fight for peace forevermore

In fields of Iraq, the poppies sway
In memory of those who couldn't stay
We'll keep the torch alight, we swear
For freedom and justice, everywhere.
