TIL since 2013 the Dutch have held the annual Dutch Headwind Cycling Championships. The Championships take place on a raised storm barrier facing the sea, and during storms of wind force 7 or higher. Competitors use upright single-speed bikes for the 8.5km course, all into a head/side wind.

TIL back in 1945, a physicist at Kodak in Rochester discovered the secret Manhattan project atomic testing 2000 miles away in New Mexico due to straw containing traces of Cerium-141. The straw was sourced from milling plants in Indiana and Iowa that was used to make the film packaging.

TIL roadrunners are actually much slower than coyotes. A roadrunner sprints at about 20 mph (or 32 km/h), whereas a coyote's top speed can reach over 40 mph (or 64 km/h).

TIL that Spitting Cobras emerged in the fossil record around the same time as early humans. It is speculated that the reason these snakes spray venom is because of the pressure humans in particular put on them. The spraying of venom from a distance countered the humans' use of projectile weapons.
