TIL that Argos is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe. This Greek settlement has been inhabited for at least 7000 years, and has been under Roman, Byzantine, Crusader, Venetian and Ottoman rule. Significant ancient monuments remain there today.

TIL Foster's 'Australian' Lager was started by two American brothers in Melbourne, Australia in 1888, was brewed in Canada and the UK for Americans since 1980s, is brewed in Fort Worth, Texas since 2011 and was sued in 2015 for the slogan "Australian for beer" implying it's an imported beer.

TIL in middle English, the letter "þ," called "thorn," was used for "th." "The" was written as "þe". In English blackletter, the "þ" and "y" glyphs look similar. Later unfamiliarity with "þ" lead to the grammatically incorrect "Ye Olde" being used to imply a connection to medieval England.
