TIL the reason why the snowman is abominable, is because of a mistranslation by a journalist. The local name for the creature was "metoh-kangmi" which translates to "man-bear snow-man", but the metoh part was mistranslated as filthy which got later changed to abominable.

TIL that in 2016, a suicide bomber with explosives in his laptop boarded a Daallo Airlines flight, intending to destroy the aircraft. 15 minutes after takeoff, the explosives detonated, blasting a hole in the plane, and instantly sucking the bomber out. He was the only fatality.
