How A Promise Can Kill A Life.
Promise
One cold night, A billionaire met an old poor man outside.
He asked him, "don't you feel cold being outside, and not wearing any coat?"
The old man replied, "I don't have it but I got used to that."
The billionaire replied, "Wait for me. I will enter my house now and bring you one." The poor man got so happy and said he will wait for him.
The billionaire entered his house and got busy there and forgot the poor man.
In the morning he remembered that poor old man and he went out to search for him but he found him dead because of cold,
But he left a NOTE.
"When I didn't have any warm clothes, I had the power to fight the cold because I was used to that. But when you promised me to help me, I got attached to your promise and that took my power of resisting".
Debrief
Don't promise anything if you can't keep your promise. It might not mean anything to you, But it could mean everything to someone else.

RIGHT THINKING
My-ness Causes Sorrow
Besides desire, the two other obstacles in attaining peace are the sense of βI-nessβ and βmy-nessβ. The sense of βI-nessβ exists with reference to the body and its activities. When I feel that this body is βIβ, then I naturally feel that anything belonging to the body is mine. Thereafter, if I lose that object, I feel sad. The sorrow exists only because I have this 'myβ sense. Suppose my watch is lost, will you be unhappy?
No. But I will be! Suppose I give my watch to you and no longer feel it belongs to me and then it is lost. Then losing it no longer matters as there is no sense of βmy-nessβ. As long as there is the sense of 'my-nessβ, the sense of possession, the mind is agitated. We feel sorrow only because of a sense of belonging.
A businessman who had lost ten lakh rupees came to me once for advice. I told him, βThe nature of business is such; sometimes profit, sometimes loss. You should have equanimity of mind in both profit and lossβ. He said, βThank you, Swamiji. You have given me good adviceβ. After a few days, when he came, he saw me unhappy. I told him that I had lost ten rupees. He said, βSwamiji, just a few days back when I had lost ten lakh rupees, you advised me to be calm. Now you are crying at the loss of only ten rupees!β I said, βMy dear, the difference is that the ten lakh rupees were 'yoursβ, but the ten rupees were βmineβ!β
'My-nessβ causes suffering, whether the loss is big or small. The Gita therefore says, βHe who is free from the sense of βmy-nessβ attains peace.
How can we live in the world without a sense of βmynessβ? It is not to be understood literally. Suppose someone asks me, βSwamiji, whose watch is this?β I cannot say, βI donβt knowβ because the Gita says, there should be no βmy-nessβ. There is no harm in saying that it is mine, as long as I realize that the watch is merely in my keeping. We must understand that the possessions are only in our temporary keeping. What we must give up is the feeling of possession and our attachment to objects.
For example, when I travel by plane, I say, βMy seat is number 25-A", but when I get off the plane, I do not try to take the seat with me! I accept it as mine only for the time allotted to travel. I relinquish it on completion of the journey, without even looking back. I do not really consider it as mine. We must live in the world and relate to people and objects in the same way. That is why mother, father, sister and brother are all called βrelativesβ not βabsolutesβ.

A Sufi mystic, Bayazid, was a tremendously happy man. Nobody had ever seen him unhappy; nobody had ever seen him sad. He never complained or grumbled about his situation.
Whatsoever happened he was cheerful. Life was not always easy for him: sometimes there was no food, yet he was happy. Sometimes for days he went without food, yet still he was happy. Sometimes there were no clothes, yet he was happy. Sometimes he had to sleep under the sky, yet his happiness remained undisturbed; it was unconditional. He was asked again and again, and he would laugh it away. When he was dying somebody asked, βBayazid, now give us your key, your secret. You will be leaving soon. *What was your secret?β
He said, βThere is nothing like a secret. It was a simple thing. Every morning when I open my eyes, life gives me two alternatives. It says, βBayazid, do you want to be happy or unhappy?β I say, βI want to be happy.β And I choose to be happy and I remain happy. It is a simple choice, there is no secret.β
The day you decide that it is your decision to be happy or unhappy you will never again be able to say that someone else is making you unhappy, because that is a declaration of slavery. You have become a MASTER.

50 years ago, children were gentle with their parents. Today parents have to be gentle with their children
50 years ago, everyone wanted to have children. Today many people are afraid of having children.
50 years ago, children respected their parents. Now parents have to respect their children.
50 years ago, marriage was easy but divorce was difficult. Nowadays it is difficult to get married but divorce is so easy.
50 years ago, we got to know all the neighbors. Now we are strangers to our neighbors.
50 years ago, people had to eat a lot because they needed the energy to work hard. Now we are afraid to eat fatty foods for fear of the cholesterol.
50 years ago, villagers were flocking to the city to find jobs. Now the town people are fleeing from the stress to find peace.
50 years ago, everyone wanted to be fat to look happy ... Nowadays everyone diets to look healthy.
50 years ago, rich people pretended to be poor. Now the poor are pretending to be rich.
50 years ago, only one person worked to support the whole family. Now all have to work to support one child.
50 years ago, people loved to study and read books ... now people love to update Facebook and read their whatsapp messages.
And 50 years hence ?? π€

It is not a question of making efforts to be aware
If you make efforts to be aware,
you will create tensions inside yourself
all efforts bring tensions.
If you TRY to be aware,
you are fighting with yourself;
there is no need to fight.
Awareness is not a by-product of effort:
awareness is a fragrance of let-go:
awareness is a flowering of surrender,
of relaxation.
Just sit silently in a relaxed state,
doing nothing...
and awareness will start happening.
Not that you have to pull it up from somewhere,
not that you have to bring it from somewhere.
It will shower on you from nowhere.
It will well up from within your own sources.
You just be silent, sitting

My whole life I have seen many things disappearing. I have made more friends than perhaps anybody has ever made. But somebody is a friend today - tomorrow it is finished. He finds some path on a crossroad and separates. But I have always taken it for granted that we are only travelers - one never knows how long someone is going to be with you.
While someone is with you, give as much love as you can, share as much as you can. Tomorrow perhaps you will have to say goodbye to the person.
My whole life I have been going from one place to another place because something has failed. But I have not failed. Thousands of dreams can fail - that does not make me a failure. On the contrary, each dream disappearing makes me more victorious because it does not disturb me, does not even touch me. Its disappearance is an advantage, is an opportunity to learn to be mature. Then the best will be coming out of you. And whatever happens will not make any difference - your best will go on growing to higher peaks.
But never try to succeed against time, against life, against existence. Always remain in a let-go.
Then one is never defeated, is never in a state of failure. And there is nothing to hide because there is no clinging to anything to make it permanent - any relationship, any friendship, any activity, anything - there is no desire to cling to it as long as things happen which you enjoy. You open yourself, you allow the juice of those moments to fill your being, and when those moments are gone you are always grateful,
never complaining.
If the disappearing dreams leave you in gratitude, then the best is going to grow in you. I have never looked back.
