156 AD – Lucius, king of Britain, declared that the country was a Christian nation, despite maintaining the ancient freedom of religion within its many kingdoms, as per the Molmutine Laws, which were in accordance will all of the central Christian precepts, most notably, treat others how you would have them treat you.

In the first and second centuries AD, the Christian faith spread very widely among the the poor and the slaves, to whom Christ’s teaching offered new hope and comfort. Excellent new communications by land and sea, and the movement of Roman troops, assisted the spread of the faith across all parts of the vast empire.
