NOW - French embassy in Niger is under siege. Any attack on French nationals or interests in Niger will provoke an "immediate and stringent" reaction from France, the French presidency said in a statement.
Some of the coup supporters outside the French embassy chant "Long live Russia", "Long live Putin" and "Down with France", AFP news agency reports.
UPDATE - West African ECOWAS bloc suspends ties with Niger and authorizes use of force if president not reinstated within a week.

UPDATE: A plane crash killed three people and caused an aircraft hangar to go up in flames in San Bernardino County, plane did crash into the Ontario PD chopper hanger. At this point it does not appear the choppers suffered any damage.
