Your personality is just a collection of old scars that you have become too attached to.
Being stuck in your own self is not being true to yourself. This is the habit of holding on to pain, which has long ceased to be a defense and has become decoration.
We are used to assembling our identity from what broke us. “I’m cautious because I was betrayed,” “I’m tough because life wasn’t kind to me,” “I’m a loner because no one understood.” Every old insult, failure or someone else's injustice turns into beautiful armor over time. We polish these scars, talk about them as badges of honor, and without realizing it, we begin to build our entire lives around them.
But a scar is just a mark from a healed wound. It shows where you have been, not who you are.
When you become too attached to your past traumas, they become a cage instead of a defense. You refuse new chances, relationships and ambitions simply because they do not fit into your usual image of a “life-beaten realist”. You begin to defend your pain, as

Liberation begins the moment you ask yourself one honest question: “Who would I become if I stopped justifying my fears from past experiences right now?”
Scars remind you that you have survived. But living just to show off your marks is too boring a scenario. Take off that outdated armor. There's a lot more living space inside than you might think.

Sometimes an obstacle arises simply because at some point you stopped paying attention.
We often look for deep reasons for what happens: karma, fate, signs, past mistakes. But sometimes the answer is much simpler - we have lost our presence in the present moment.
Mindfulness is more than just concentration. This is the ability to notice what is happening before habitual reactions, haste or inattention lead to consequences.
To be attentive means to see the moment as it is, and not to automatically pass by your own life.

If we saw that a person, instead of covering the roof of his house and putting in windows, every time the rain and wind came, he would go outside and, standing in the wind and rain, would be angry at the clouds and shout at them, ordering one to go to the right, the other to the left, we would probably, having seen such a person, say that he is crazy. And yet we all do this very thing when we are angry about the evil that people do, scolding people, and not caring about eradicating the evil in ourselves. Meanwhile, getting rid of the evil in ourselves - covering our roof, putting in our windows - is in our power, but eradicating evil from the world is as little in our power as controlling the clouds. If people, instead of teaching others, would at least occasionally engage in teaching themselves, there would be less and less evil in the world and it would be easier and easier for people to live.

The bottom line is that we all want happiness and don't want to suffer. Therefore, no matter what we do, whether we believe in karma, reincarnation, etc. or not, we still need to practice moral ethics. No matter how we feel about karma, if we do not think that morality is necessary, then it will naturally lead to unethical behavior, which in turn will bring suffering. This does not refer to philosophies about karma or future lives, but directly concerns our behavior in this life.
Even non-believers need to cultivate patience and compassion. Likewise, non-believers must also practice morality, that is, refraining from harming others. This is the most basic practice. Even in this life, not to mention what results it will bring in the future, if we harm others, it will lead us to terrible consequences, such as bad fame, bad attitude from others, persecution and imprisonment, and many other negative things.
Each of us, believer or not, must lead a life full of morality, that is, not harm others: do not kill,

do not lie, do not steal, and so on. This is the basis. In this way, neither we nor others experience suffering. When we are not harmed, we are happy and then, in turn, we can benefit others more and more. As a result, we become happier, and the same happens to others. We can bring great happiness to everyone around us, our family, country and the world.

Siddhartha came to the conclusion: you need to develop awareness of your own emotions. If you are able to be even slightly aware of emotions as they arise, you limit their activity, and they become like teenagers being looked after by a teacher. You watch and Mara's power decreases. The poisoned arrows did not harm Siddhartha, since he understood that they were just an illusion. In the same way, our own violent emotions will become no more dangerous than flower petals. And when the apsaras approached Siddhartha, he clearly saw that they were simply composite phenomena, like a ring of fire, as a result of which they lost their spell. They could not disturb his peace. In the same way, we are freed from temptation by seeing that the objects of our desire are actually just composite phenomena.
When you begin to pay attention to the harm emotions can cause, you develop awareness. If you have awareness - for example, you understand that you are on the edge of an abyss - you are aware of the danger that threatens

you. You can still continue to move forward and do what you were doing: walk along the edge of the cliff with the awareness “It’s no longer so scary, but even exciting.” The true source of fear is ignorance. Mindfulness does not mean that you are no longer living; in fact, it makes your life much more fulfilling. If, when you bring a cup of tea to your lips, you understand the bitterness and sweetness of everything that is transitory, then you are truly enjoying this cup of tea.

How many years have you been “dealing with childhood traumas”, “working through your dad” and looking for the underlying reasons for your failures?
You've read dozens of books, taken a bunch of tests, know all the terms - from avoidance patterns to Ego projections. It seems to you that you have done colossal spiritual work.
But let's be honest, without self-deception. What has changed in your real world during this time?
“Your constant soul-searching is not the path to awareness. This is a disguise for a banal fear of taking action.”
The mind is a brilliant manipulator. When you are faced with a real, uncomfortable step (release a project, quit, set strict boundaries, start training), your mind instantly offers you a safe alternative: “Wait, let’s first figure out WHY you’re so scared!”
And you find yourself in an endless loop.
Anatomy of this trap:
• Illusion of progress. Spending an evening analyzing your fears feels like “working on yourself.” But in reality you haven’t moved a millimeter.

Anatomy of this trap:
• Illusion of progress. Spending an evening analyzing your fears feels like “working on yourself.” But in reality you haven’t moved a millimeter.
• Search for the ideal state. You have convinced yourself that you can act only when there is not a single doubt or anxiety left inside. But this moment will never come.
• Self-examination as an alibi. By constantly picking at old wounds, you give yourself the legal right to stay where you are. “I’m not ready yet, I’m in the process of healing.”
In the Buddhist tradition there is a parable about a poisoned arrow: if a person is hit by an arrow, there is no need for years to find out what kind of wood it was made of, who the archer was and what the caliber of the tip was. There is only one necessary reaction - to pull out the arrow.
Mindfulness is not endless reflection. This is the ability to notice your fear, acknowledge it with respect... and take a step DESPITE it.
How to get out of an intellectual dead end?
1. Declare a moratorium on analysis. Ban yourself from “looking for reasons” for at least one week.
2. Replace the question “Why?” to the question “What?” Instead of “Why am I afraid?” ask, “What exactly do I need to do right now, despite this fear?”
3. Take a physical action. A slight discomfort from a real step cures neuroses better than tons of literature read.
Stop dissecting your fears. Allow yourself to act imperfectly, with doubts and anxiety in your chest. Real awakening occurs not in thoughts, but in actions.

Each person must pave his own path, since the acquisition of truth is a purely individual comprehension and individual experience; therefore, you cannot follow the path of another person, no matter how great and wise he may be. No prophet can guide you. To understand the truth, a person must grow completely independently and uniquely.

If you have not realized the potential of your physical body in this life,

If you haven't realized your heart's potential, you are lost.
and lost a lot...
