CSO unveils Guardian Ideal, Space Force values at AFA > United States Space Force > News
Chief of Space Operations Gen. John W. “Jay” Raymond unveiled the Guardian Ideal and Space Force values during his speech Sept. 20, 2021, at the Air Force Association Air, Space, and Cyber Conference in National Harbor, Maryland.
The Guardian Ideal is the Space Force’s foundational document outlining the service’s boundary-pushing, innovative approach to talent management, from accession to development, and it combines aspirations with actions and milestones.
“At the heart of the Guardian Ideal is the commitment between the leader and the led, founded upon our core values of Character, Connection, Commitment, and Courage,” Raymond said. “These values guide who we are and how we conduct our mission. They will unite and sustain us as we grow together as one interconnected force.”
Raymond said he’s most proud of the explicit focus on inclusion in the Space Force’s culture from the very beginning and how the team-centric model outlined in the Guardian Ideal encourages cooperation over competition.

Raymond describes Space Force achievements, plans, challenges ahead > United States Space Force > News 9-21-2021
Chief of Space Operations, Gen. John W. “Jay” Raymond used a list of “firsts” and achievements across the Space Force’s brief history Sept. 21 to illustrate how the nation’s newest military service is “purpose built” for success at a time when the nation “can no longer take space for granted.”
“Space is clearly a warfighting domain and we’re convinced that if deterrence were to fail, we’re going to have to fight and win the battle for space superiority,” Raymond told an audience of more than 2,000 during his keynote address at the Air Force Association Air, Space, and Cyber Conference. “Let me be clear; we don’t want to fight in space. We want to deter that from happening.”
Since the Space Force was born Dec. 20, 2019, Raymond said there has been a singular focus for the nation’s newest military service — being lean and fast, innovative and unified. He also said that Space Force had embraced from its earliest days the “One Team, One Fight” ethos popularized by Department of the Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall.

Dedicated to “Lynn Strait”… was thinking of this song while reminiscing friends and family that have passed on… This song also meant a lot to me not only lyrically, but from a perspective of timeframe as well in the music industry. His death caused a ripple effect among a “tightness” that once existed in the metal scene.
