Nusku (Sumerian Nuska), minister[Sukkal/Vizier] to Enlil, he also appears as Enlil's son in some traditions. Nusku, associated with fire & light. He functioned as a protective deity at night, in absence of the sun god Shamash, & could be invoked against nightmares & demons. He appears in this role in Maqlû [Burning Ritual] on an amulet meant to protect the owner from the demon Lamashtu & in a prayer invoking him against various demons, such as gallu.
