Arizona Senate candidate John McLean was struck and killed in a crash early Friday on Tucson’s east side, police say.

McLean, the Democratic challenger for Tucson-area District 17’s senate seat, was driving east on Broadway near North Houghton Road about 6 a.m. when Tucson police say he was struck by an impaired driver who ran a stop sign.
