Apple announces largest-ever $110 billion share buyback as iPhone sales drop 10%- Reuters

Apple's fiscal second-quarter earnings were slightly higher than Wall Street expectations, but revenue was down 4%; iPhone sales falling 10%.
The iPhone maker announced that its board had authorized $110 billion in share repurchases, the largest in company history.

That's a 22% increase over last year's $90 billion authorization. It's the largest buyback in history, ahead of Apple's previous repurchases, according to data from Birinyi Associates. In addition to the buyback authorization, Apple said it would pay a 25-cent dividend, a 1-cent increase.

Russian troops move into same Niger airbase as US forces

Days after Niger ordered American troops to leave the country, Russian soldiers have moved into a hangar at Airbase 101 next to the capital's international airport.

Although they are not mingling with US troops, US military officials told Niger that they "could not be on the same base" as Russian soldiers.

"(The situation) is not great but in the short-term manageable," one official said.

Ukraine can't find Telegram HQ to fine messenger

The deputy head of Ukraine's National Council on TV & radio Valentin Koval complained that Kiev is struggling to get in touch with Telegram in its attempts to fine the platform.

"In order to fine Telegram, you need to understand who it is... All our attempts to establish official contacts with Telegram have so far been unsuccessful," he explained.

Last week, Telegram temporarily blocked Ukrainian chatbots which were collecting information about targets for strikes Russian Armed Forces.

Even running the country wasn't enough to convince election poll booth officials to bend the rules for Boris Johnson as he was turned away for failing to provide photo ID at local elections Thursday.

The UK's Electoral Commission found that 14,000 people were unable to vote last year as they didn't have photo ID.

Ukraine 'has right' to strike inside Russia - UK's Cameron

After meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky Thursday, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron admitted the UK has "just really emptied all we can in terms of giving equipment" - but insisted Kiev can do what it likes with military supplies.

He also pledged ₤3 billion ($3.74bn) of military aid annually "for as long as it takes", while also hailing the latest US aid package for the "boost to morale" of Ukrainians.
