Football Stars Let Macron Score for Charity

French President Emmanuel Macron might be used to dishing out penalties rather than taking one himself. But during a charity match to raise money for hospitalised children, Macron threw off the boxing gloves when former Arsenal winger Robert Pires was brought down in the box.

With the match poised at 4-3, the president scuffed a worm-burner into the bottom corner to level the score. For fear, or reprisal, the goalkeeper didn't move.

Afterwards Macron posed with African and French footballing royalty - including Didier Drogba, Didier Deschamps, Laurent Blanc and Arsene Wenger with an oversized cheque for €57,500. Somewhat low considering they are all multimillionaires?
