👋🏻Привет! Мы вернулись))начинанием понедельник с полезного совета от наших преподавателей о том, как отвечать на вопрос (который вам точно зададут) о ваших прошлых проектах во время собеседования:

📌If you’ve been working for a couple of years, you might have quite a lot projects to talk about. Then you should really care about conciseness and relevance.
Select projects/experiences carefully and ask yourself why I choose this project to discuss. It might be because the project is technically challenging and shows your leadership skills at the same time. Or it might be because the project is highly relevant to what the new company is doing. All in all, you should be aware of the reason for everything you want to discuss.

📌Also, it’s important to keep a balance between high level ideas and details, which is a common mistake for experienced engineers. Things like “I’ve built the whole infrastructure of our crawling system” is too vague except you came from a well known company like Google, which justifies the complexity. Otherwise, you’d better explain why this point is important (relevant). You may mention that the system has crawled 1B URLs with 20 machines.

📌However, the opposite extreme is equally bad. Too many technical details can only confuse interviewers. Again, a good criterion is to ask yourself – does this detail provide extra information that significantly shows my relevance and strength? If not, don’t bother to mention it.

В английском есть понятие false friends: вам кажется,что вы точно знаете,что означает слово, ведь похожее есть в вашем языке...но нет! Оно имеет совсем другое значение😒:

✔️Accurate- точный (не аккуратный)

✔️Expertise-компетенция в определённой области

По нашим наблюдениям часто допускаются ошибки при употреблении "so" и "such". Давайте разберёмся!

✔️Such — такой – является прилагательным (отвечает на вопрос "какой?") и употребляется только в сочетании с существительными (кто?что?) или прилагательным + существительное.

It was such a complicated task- I had to ask for help
Such an extraordinary interview- I hope I'll get the job

✔️So – так – является наречием, и, в отличие от such, сочетается только с прилагательными или наречиями (отвечает на вопрос "как?") без существительного.

The task was so difficult- I had to ask for help
The interview was so extraordinary- I hope I'll get the job

✔️There are a number of variations on this question, some of which just ask about things such as:

📌Source control
📌Testing
📌Variable/file/class/whatever naming
📌Application architecture decisions

If your current employer does not have a source control system:

✖️Do not say, "I do not use source control" because it makes you look awful!

✔️Instead, an answer such as, "My current employer does not have a source control system, but I have used TFS at a previous employer, and I use Mercurial at home for personal projects" will be much better.

Other times, we simply have bad habits; in those cases:

✔️It is better to recognize them and show that you are trying to change them. You could say something like, "I tend to not write as many unit tests as I should, but I have been working hard to ensure greater code coverage."

✖️Don't lie about this. Employers like to find people with enough self-awareness to see and correct their flaws, and the honesty to be able to discuss them.
