✔️On-prem- краткое для on-premise. Дословно переводится как “на предприятии”, что означает использование собственных ресурсов для размещения программного обеспечения.

✔️Remember that on-prem software is more expensive than on-demand or cloud software because it requires in-house server hardware, capital investment in software licenses, in-house IT support staff and longer integration periods. So we should think twice about this solution

❌Есть в английском такая фраза: "to be off the table", что означает "снятое с повестки дня; то, что не рассматривается"

⭕️И есть фраза "on the table", которая является противоположной по значению "off the table"- на повестке дня, в силе, на рассмотрении

🆘В IT часто вместо слова "a problem" используют "an issue" Сегодня немного о нем.

✔️Issue is a subject or problem that is often discussed or argued about, especially a social or political matter that affects the interests of a lot of people

✔️raise an issue (=say that an issue should be discussed)- пер. поднять вопрос

✔️address an issue (=discuss or deal with an issue)- пер. остановится на проблеме)

✔️resolve an issue (=find a solution for an issue)- пер. разрешить проблему

💎Сегодня слово refinement. Почему? Оно часто используется в Scrum (напр. Product Backlog refinement), его иногда путают с Refactoring...

Refinement- a small change that improves something

👨‍👩‍👧Все знают три вопроса, на которые от вас ожидают ответ во время Daily Stand-up:

✔️What did you do yesterday?
✔️What will you do today?
✔️Are there any impediments in your way?

Последним вопросом, который мы обычно игнорируем и говорим “No impediments, no questions”, не стоит пренебрегать… Ведь Scrum гуру зачем-то его придумали🤷‍♀️

Варианты того, как об этом говорить, могут варьироваться:

✔️I’m uncertain whether the automated tests should go all the way to the database tables written by the legacy system, or I should just use mock objects

✔️We had some issues with...

✔️I’m finding it difficult…

✔️The only impediment is that the design a little more complex than we thought

🙅‍♀️Если же трудностей действительно нет, можно сказать:

✔️I don’t have any dependencies (то есть выполнение вашей задачи ни от кого не зависит… кроме вас)

✔️Any impediments?... None

👨‍👩‍👧На Daily митингах надо же еще и о ваших планах рассказывать

What will you do today?

Здесь можно использовать будущее время, конструкцию to be going to и еще много чего.

Давайте посмотрим на примеры:

✔️I think me and Mitch are going to start working on with this today (спланировано, to be going to часто используется в американском английском вместо will)

✔️What I’m going to be working on is the design of a new database system

✔️My only active task will be approving the one story at the end

✔️Today I’ll start on a code to read the grades from the legacy database

✔️Today I plan to pair with Andy on that

✔️Today I’d like to write the related HTML and stylesheet

Как можно оптимально рассказать о том, над чем вы работали вчера?

Можем просто использовать старый добрый Past Simple (говорим о законченных действих в прошлом):

✔️I spent yesterday pair programming with Tim on the Update Grades PBI, using TDD (вместо того, чтобы просто сказать I pair programmed with Tim…)

✔️Yesterday I finished mapping the legacy database schema

✔️I was able to/managed to point out edge cases the developer wouldn’t have thought of (когда хотите аккуратно подчеркнуть свои достижения)

💆‍♂️А что если вы были человеком-ждуном: у вас не было активных тасок или вы должны были ждать, пока ваш тим мембер закончит какую-нибудь задачу? Можно просто сказать:

Если ничего не было доведено до конца, это ок). Стоит сказать, над чем вы работали и дать приблизительные сроки выполнения:

📌When asked about your weaknesses, give a real weakness!

📌Answers like "My greatest weakness is that I work too hard" tell your interviewer that you're arrogant and/or won't admit to your faults.

📌A good answer conveys a real, legitimate weakness but emphasizes how you work to overcome it.

✔️For example: «Sometimes, I don't have a very good attention to detail. While that's good because it lets me execute quickly, it also means that I sometimes make careless mistakes. Because of that, I make sure to always have someone else double check my work”

📌One alternative is to list most of the languages you've used, but add your experience level. This approach is shown below:

Как говорить о цели действия:

📌to - infinitive

📌in order to (чтобы)/ so as to(чтобы) + infinitive (formal)
✔️He did a postgraduate course in order to / so as to widen his knowledge of IT.

📌In negative sentences we use IN ORDER NOT TO or SO AS NOT TO. We never use NOT TO alone
✔️He wrote the number down in order not to / so as not to forget it.

📌so that + can / will (about present or future)
✔️Our travel manager has booked a first-class ticket so that I can travel in comfort.
