Took the wife and kids out for a little stomp around a local nature trail. Not much but still had fun and they learned some things. (Pic quality is crap because I didn't take my camera)
Had a honey jug spring a leak so, it seemed like a good reason to make some mead. Probably around 2 pounds of honey in half a gallon with premiere blanc yeast. I usually use premiere blanc for cyser but, it goes great in any spring/summer mead. We let it go for about 2 weeks and, today, we racked off the lees and added some of last year's harvests of blueberries with a little mint and rose petal. I highly recommend making your own mead or wine. It's a fun and inexpensive activity that you can incorporate gardening and foraging into! GO OUTSIDE! Find ingredients, create!
As you may have noticed, I'm gonna be sharing more than just photos here. My photography started from my love of nature and a traditional lifestyle and that's what I'd like to share with y'all
Alan Rockefeller has sequenced a species of Psilocybe mushroom from Pennsylvania and Iowa recently. It's closely related to P. aztecorum but still not matching. I'm advocating for the Pennsylvania subspecies to be called Psilocybe pensylvanicus after Bombus pensylvanicus. The American Bumblebee

Hyperborea has been corrupted by dark magic. The people live in squalor and fear. Every day they pray for a hero.

Will you answer their prayers?
I'm sure y'all already know big Dave. If you don't, go check him out. Especially if you're a fan of pulp fiction writing (not the movie..lol) and traditional and/or heathen lifestyle. He's also developing an old school style video game which looks boss as hell!
Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata.. A species of medicinal mushroom that grows here in Pennsylvania. Edited because I misspelled the first time
Northern water snake. Gorgeous little guys. Aggressive bastards too. Got bit a few times by this one and his counterpart. A few people on the trail got a lesson in not killing them though. So it was worth it
Aricularia auricula -Jews ear.
Pheasant Back/Dryad saddle. Basic rule of thumb is to get em when they're palm sized or smaller. I find that the smaller the better though. The bigger ones make absolutely wonderful soup stock
