CHRISTMAS. CHRISTMAS, Y'ALL.
Forwarded from Kim Barra
Good morning beautiful people! And Gud Yule 🙂
I honor the solstice (& all the Pagan sabbats) as well as Christmas… both/and I would love to hear any & all thoughts on Christmas. Obviously for many it is a sacred time, for some a stressful time, with issues of family absence or discord and the awful commercialization.
And each year I am more mindful of how the dominance of Christmas (here in the US at least) is so representative of colonization, a Christian-centric paradigm, and I can only imagine the feelings that evokes in our friends of other faith traditions.

My fave part of Christmas and solstice is singing
Last year I got to go to local restaurant candlelit dinner with fire and song circle in the adjacent alley.
It was very sweet. High schoolers came and sang, others had brought song books.
I like some carols better than others.
Tbh haven’t felt like listing to Christmas songs.
Dance alchemy music including very restful femme accapella from beautiful chorus when I am winding down. Not the Christmas songs tho!!
I used to listen to winter solstice compilations and Celtic music a lot this time of year.
Recent years I have let go of cultural holidays a lot, I guess because they didn’t work, we’re not very accessible to me. Rituals didn’t contain nutriments that emptied and filled and satisfied me.
I have inner sense of earth cycles and rhythms in different ways now….
Every day is sacred
Is a giving day
Is a day to wake attend grieve laugh dance pray
Work labor care for
Reach and grow
Grow connections
Connectivity
Christmas
Much Christ-ness
