The Dune Index is measuring onchain adoption by combining and normalizing to the same scale:
- Transaction Fees in USD
- Number of Transactions
- USD Transfer volumes
This is done by converting them to a ratio of the baseline date 1.1.2018. These three metrics are weighted with Transaction Fees x 45% and USD Transfers x 45% and # Transactions x 10%. This weighting accounts for the fact that transactions can be handled very differently depending on the blockchain, and they generally do not represent adoption in the same way fees and transfers do. The resulting index represents the combined impact of these three metrics which collectively indicate onchain adoption.

Harmony’s August 12 exploit appears to have resulted in the unauthorized creation of roughly 5 billion ONE at the protocol level.
But the forensic trail raises a far bigger question: one flagged wallet later distributed more than 2.67 trillion ONE, despite showing only about 200 million ONE in conventional incoming transfers.
The leading technical explanation is a Cross-Shard Receipt replay vulnerability a flaw that could allow the same legitimate cross-shard instruction to be accepted more than once, creating repeated destination-side credits.
The 2.67T ONE figure is not confirmed minting: it is a much larger transaction/state anomaly still under investigation, pending restoration of historical RPC and archival state access.
