🧠 Now make it harder.

Someone says:

> I actually think being busy is a good thing.

Respond without:

❌ attacking the person

❌ saying “You're wrong”

❌ abandoning your position

❌ changing the subject

Try:

🔹 I understand your point, but…

or:

🔹 That's a fair point. However…

or:

🔹 I agree to some extent, but…

Then explain why you still disagree.

💡 The important distinction

Good disagreement is not about winning.

It's about keeping your position while continuing to understand and respond to another person's thinking.

That's exactly what makes an unpopular opinion interesting in a discussion.

این بار قراره توی تیم‌های کوچیک با یه challenge ساده شروع کنیم:

Make them understand it without saying it.

نه می‌تونی خود کلمه رو بگی،
نه ترجمه‌ش کنی،
نه spellingش کنی.

فقط باید somehow کاری کنی که تیمت بفهمه منظورت چیه. 😶‍🌫️

و خب... هرچی جلوتر بریم، آسون‌تر نمی‌شه. 👀

اینجا فقط بحث vocabulary نیست.

باید describe کنی، paraphrase کنی، خوب گوش بدی، سریع فکر کنی و وقتی کلمه‌ی مناسب یادت نمیاد، یه راه دیگه پیدا کنی.

🧠 DAY 1 — Say It Without Saying It

🔹 5 Circumlocution Techniques

When you blank on a word mid-sentence,
trying to fish for the exact term often stalls the conversation.

The goal isn't to sound like a dictionary —
it's to keep the dialogue moving.

Here are five practical ways to explain things on the fly:

1. Category First

Can’t find the exact word?
Give it a category first.

Pattern:

> “It’s a kind of _ that _.”

Example — COMPASS 🧭

❌ Skip:
“Umm… it’s small… you take it outside…”

✅ Say:
“It’s a kind of navigation tool that helps you work out which direction you’re facing.”

🎯 Quick Challenge:

Describe helmet, telescope, or receipt using this pattern.

✅ DAY 2 — Say It Without Saying It

🔹 Describe the Function

Skip the shape and color.
Go straight to what it actually does.

Pattern:

> “You use it to ___.”

Example — PASSWORD 🔐

“You use it to prove you’re allowed into an account and keep other people out.”

🎯 Quick Challenge:

Explain charger or sunscreen focusing only on its function.

✅ DAY 3 — Say It Without Saying It

🔹 Use Contrast

Pick something close,
then highlight the difference.

Pattern:

> “It’s similar to _, except _.”

Example — SARCASM

“It’s similar to a joke, except you often say the opposite of what you really mean, usually to mock or criticize something.”

Try the same pattern with:

🔹 Build a Situation

Abstract words are easier to show through a quick scene than a dictionary definition.

Pattern:

> “It’s what happens when ___.”

Example — MISUNDERSTANDING

“It’s what happens when two people think they understand each other, but they actually mean different things.”

🎯 Quick Challenge:

Create a situation for:

این بار درباره‌ی نظرهایی حرف زدیم که شاید خیلی‌ها باهاشون موافق نباشن. 👀

اول چند تا unpopular opinion رو با هم بررسی کردیم؛
بعد نوبت خودمون شد که نظرهامون رو وسط بذاریم و ازشون دفاع کنیم.

بعضی‌ها موافق بودن،
بعضی‌ها مخالف،
و بعضی بحث‌ها هم از چیزی که فکر می‌کردیم بیشتر ادامه پیدا کرد. 😄

چیزی که این جلسه رو جذاب کرد، فقط گفتن یک opinion نبود؛
بلکه شنیدن دیدگاه‌های مختلف، challenge کردنشون و توضیح دادن دلیل پشت هر نظر بود.

✅ DAY 5 — Say It Without Saying It

🔹 Redirect a Wrong Guess

If someone guesses close but off-target,
steer their guess instead of starting over.

Pattern:

> “Not exactly _ — think more _.”

Example — STUBBORN

They guess:

> “Determined?”

You say:

> “Not exactly determined — think more unwilling to change your mind, even when people give you good reasons.”

How would you redirect someone who confuses frugal with cheap?
