*Weight Gain Causes Everyone Should be Aware of*

If you always end up weighing a pound more than the last time you checked your weight in spite of following an exercise regimen and diet control, there are underlying causes triggering the abnormal weight gain.

To fit into your old pair of jeans, it is better that you know (www.ThinkPill.in) about a few surprising causes of weight gain that may be making your diet program counterproductive. Take a look at some surprising causes of weight gain that are costing you your sleep.

*Cushing's Syndrome*
Cushing’s syndrome is a hormonal disorder in which the level of cortisol (a hormone) rises suddenly due to which fat accumulates around the face, neck, waist, abdomen and upper back while the arms and legs remain slender.
The prevalence of Cushing’s syndrome is (www.ThinkPill.in) usually characterised by a “moon face” and “buffalo hump”.
*Symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome include:*
thickening of the skin
irregular menstrual cycles
hypertension
hair loss, especially in women and
glucose intolerance.

*Emotional Eating*
Emotional eating happens when a person indulges in binge eating to comfort his feelings and emotions rather than his hunger.
He takes large quantities of food, especially junk food to satiate his emotional and mental tensions.
Foods bring short-term relief to the person (www.ThinkPill.in) going through an emotional turmoil.
Therefore, after every stressful episode, the person turns to food instead of acquiring skills to tackle his mental and emotional distress. Depression, loneliness, stress and anxiety, issues related to interpersonal relationships and chronic anger may trigger a person to eat more, resulting in surprising weight gain.

*Hypothyroidism*
Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland fails to produce the required amount of hormones that decrease the metabolism rate, which in turn leads to fat accumulation, thus causing weight gain.
Hypothyroidism also causes water retention, (www.ThinkPill.in) which is another potent reason for sudden increase in weight.
Symptoms of hypothyroidism include fatigue and tiredness, lethargy, inflammation of the face or of the area around the eyes, dry and flaky skin, decreased sweating, poor memory, speech impairment, slow speech, hoarse voice, weakness, intolerance to cold and headache.

*Essential Fatty Acid Deficiency*
Our body requires essential fatty acids for an unhampered production of hormones and to maintain the body's metabolic rate.
If one’s body lacks the required amount of (www.ThinkPill.in) essential fatty acids, it may lead to cravings, especially for fatty and oily foods.
The early indications of deficiency of fatty acids include dandruff, dry hair and dry and scaly skin.

*Antidepressants*
People, who take antidepressants, often suffer from obesity and other overweight problems.
A prolonged course of antidepressants leads to abnormal weight gain.
Ask your personal physician if your (www.ThinkPill.in) antidepressant drug course can be changed.
People whose mental condition improves after taking antidepressants tend to eat more, which thereby leads to temporary weight gain.

Get yourself diagnosed by a doctor (www.ThinkPill.in) to treat conditions, such as hypothyroidism and Cushing's syndrome or they may lead to other health issues other than weight gain.

Why is the left lung smaller than the right lung?

The left lung is slightly smaller than the right lung because 2/3 of the heart is located on the left side of the body. The left lung contains the cardiac notch, an indentation in the lung that surrounds the apex of the heart. Each lung consists of several distinct lobes.
How is Blood Pressure measured?

The most common method for measuring blood pressure uses a sphygmomanometer – an inflatable armband with a pressure gauge and hand pump. The doctor pumps the armband up enough to squeeze the brachial artery in your arm shut. They then gently let a little air out and listen with a stethoscope at the crook of your elbow, until they hear the blood just start to flow again. The pressure reading at this moment is your systolic pressure, which is the maximum pressure during each heartbeat. Releasing more air until there is no more sound through the stethoscope, gives the minimum pressure for the heartbeat, which is the diastolic pressure.
*Are You Depressed or Just Sad?* *A Clarity Between the Two*

What does being depressed or being sad mean to you?
When we feel low, emotions cloud (www.ThinkPill.in) our judgment and we get confused between depression and sadness.

So, what does the two terms ‘depression’ and ‘Sadness’ mean to you?
Know that these two are not synonymous with each other.
Depression is a much more complex and damaging situation than just being sad.

*What is Sadness?*
Sadness is a feeling of sorrow, helplessness, and loneliness. It is a negative outcome of bad circumstances.
It is a temporary mood swing related (www.ThinkPill.in) to certain situations such as professional or personal stress, a difficult relationship, sudden demise of a loved one etc.
Every person experiences this feeling differently as no situation is the same.
But this is not chronic and would wear-off in a while.

*What is Depression?*
Depression is chronic and a serious mental health issue.
Depressed people may feel sad, (www.ThinkPill.in) uneasy, empty, hopeless, worthless, hollow, restless or ill-tempered.

A depressed person will experience one of these symptoms:
- Lost interest in daily activities that you once enjoyed doing
- Find it difficult to remember details or make sensible decisions
- Inability to understand the simplest of things
- Insomnia
- Exhaustion or loss of energy
- Aches, pains or (www.ThinkPill.in) digestive problems
- Hard to concentrate
- Suffer an eating disorder
- Thoughts of self-harm or suicide

*Being Sad is a Symptom of Depression*
We all experience a feeling of sadness from time to time as it is a natural human emotion.
People often say that (www.ThinkPill.in) they are depressed even if they are just having a bad day or something has not gone the way they planned it.
If you are experiencing any of the aforementioned problems, then you are sad and not depressed.
These are just everyday “blues” and not a serious depressive disorder.

Depression, on the other hand, is a serious mental health issue that could prove fatal.
It is a mental illness that not just affects a person’s emotion but his/her behaviour, thinking, and physical well-being.
A sad person will cry for a (www.ThinkPill.in) while and get better in a few days.
Whereas a person suffering from depression loses interests in all activities, experiences sleep deprivation, withdrawal from others, and loss of appetite for multiple weeks.
Depression may even lead to thoughts of suicide or mortality.

Regardless of whether you are sad or depressed, check in with your loved ones or seek professional help if you think what you are experiencing is something serious.
Take your mental health (www.ThinkPill.in) seriously and look out for signs.
If you suspect that someone around you is showing any of these signs, then help them out.
Just because a person seems happy does not necessarily mean that they are not suffering.

*5 Exercise Machines to Avoid at the Gym*

Modern gymnasiums have many fancy gym equipments but the truth is that free weights are more versatile than these machines.
Why?
Because, with a pair of dumbbells you could work (www.ThinkPill.in) on your biceps, triceps, chest, shoulder, legs, back and hence as you can see pretty much the entire body.
Of course, for beginners, it is easy to use machines, as a lot of help in coordination and support can be found here, but they are not all very safe. If you are going to use machines to workout then here is a guide for you, avoid these four exercise machines by all means!

*Seated Leg Curl*
You will use these machines to train your quadriceps, or the front thigh and also the hamstrings which is the back of your thigh.
Trainers usually do agree that this creates a (www.ThinkPill.in) motion that your legs are not designed to do, and which can also put a strain on your ligaments along with the tendons that are surrounding the kneecaps.

*Seated Chest Fly*
This is a good and renowned exercise for your chest and also the shoulders.
But you must be careful with this as (www.ThinkPill.in) it can put your shoulder in an unstable position and could place an excessive amount of stress on the shoulder joint and the connective tissue.
*A better option is simple push-ups.*

*Seated Hip Abductor*
These are machines that are designed to train your outer and inner thighs, and the truth is that because you are seated these exercises train movement that has no particular functional use.
When you are using these machines (www.ThinkPill.in) with too much weight, or if this is done in bad form then you can put a strain on your spine.
These machines are just plain wrong, and a *better exercise could be the side lunge.*

*Any Abdominal Machines*
These are of no good, abdominal machines do not help you in any manner.
These machines could be of (www.ThinkPill.in) some help when it comes to your outer abdomen, but you don’t get any muscle tone and could play a role in making your abs less flat.
*Forget this sort of modern fad and go for planks.*

*Seated Shoulder Press*
Those shoulder press machines that require you to sit and work out on could be very bad for your body.
They have a restrictive range (www.ThinkPill.in) of motion and could lead to a serious injury as it leaves your muscles in an awkward position.
The best alternative is to use free weights or a medicine ball for your benefit, which can also increase your heartbeat which would add to your credit.
Finally, you must always remember that you are required to do cardio exercises before you start off any exercises, and also should do enough stretches.

*10 Vaccines Recommended for your Child*

Babies are naturally protected against (www.ThinkPill.in) certain diseases as the antibodies from their mothers were passed to them through the placenta. They continue to receive antibodies through breast milk.
However, the antibodies they produce are not enough to ward off many infections and illnesses.

Giving vaccines for different diseases confers what is called ‘acquired immunity’.

Below are the vaccinations that are recommended for your child.

*BCG Vaccine* –
This vaccination is given (www.ThinkPill.in) as an intradermal injection soon after baby's birth.
The immunization helps prevent tuberculosis (TB).

*OPV Vaccine* –
OPV vaccine is given (www.ThinkPill.in) orally in several doses till the age of five to prevent the incidence of polio.
Polio is a disease that affects the nerves causing muscle weakness and paralysis.
In India, the vaccination is given free of cost (www.ThinkPill.in) to all children below five years of age under a Government programme.

*DPT Vaccine* –
The intradermal injection helps prevent diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus.
Diphtheria is an infection which (www.ThinkPill.in) starts with a ‘sore throat’ but has life-threatening complications.
Pertussis (whooping cough) affects the lungs in children and causes brain damage.
Tetanus starts when a wound (www.ThinkPill.in) gets infected.

*Measles Vaccine* –
The vaccine is given (www.ThinkPill.in) subcutaneously (just below the skin) after a baby completes nine months.
Measles is a contagious viral infection that starts as cold/cough with (www.ThinkPill.in) rashes and later causes diarrhoea and pneumonia.

*Hepatitis B Vaccine* –
Though it is not mandatory for children, it provides immunity against jaundice.
Hepatitis is a viral infection (www.ThinkPill.in) that affects the liver and can lead to jaundice.
It is given in a series of three shots, at different times.

*Hib Vaccine* –
This vaccine makes a child (www.ThinkPill.in) immunity against meningitis, a disease in which a child’s brain and the spinal cord gets infected.
It is given in four doses to a child, (www.ThinkPill.in) first in the 2nd month and final during the 12th month.

*Chickenpox Vaccine* –
This vaccine helps prevent (www.ThinkPill.in) chickenpox.
It is given in two doses – first is when the child is between 12 to 15 months of (www.ThinkPill.in) age and the second dose is when the child is between 4 to 6 years old.

*MMR Vaccine* –
It is a vaccination that protects children (www.ThinkPill.in) from measles, mumps and rubella.

*Influenza (flu) Vaccine* –
Flu is one of the common diseases that affect the respiratory system.
The vaccine should be administered (www.ThinkPill.in) before the flu season, in children between 6 months to 5 years of age.

*Rotavirus Vaccine* –
This vaccination provides immunity (www.ThinkPill.in) against rotavirus infection, which can cause severe gastroenteritis and diarrhoea.

A common concern among parents is that their baby will have serious reactions to the vaccines because of which they would hesitate to get immunizations in the future.
Vaccinations are unlikely to cause (www.ThinkPill.in) any serious illness, though there could be mild reactions such as soreness.
Since the risks of vaccinations are too less as compared with the health risks associated with the diseases they prevent, you should consider it.

What organs can regenerate themselves?

The liver is the only human internal (www.ThinkPill.in) organ capable of natural regeneration of lost tissue; as little as 25% of a liver can regenerate into a whole liver. Regeneration is very rapid. The liver will return to a normal size in one to two weeks following the removal of (www.ThinkPill.in) greater than 50% of the liver by mass.
Cryonics is the practice (www.ThinkPill.in) or technique of deep-freezing the bodies of people who have just died, in the hope that scientific advances (www.ThinkPill.in) may allow them to be revived in the future
