There is a veteran who really needs our help to stay alive. His name is Stephen Paul. Here is his story. Don't skip this.

One day a few weeks ago, my sister texted me frantic because her husband had come home in tears. His barber (the vet) was beside himself because he had found out that all options at the VA had been exhausted, and they wouldn't cover his life-saving heart surgery. My brother-in-law was distraught.

I got a bunch of info from my sister, and was planning to call SP right away to see how I could help. Life got crazy for a few days, and I didn't get to call, when my phone rang. It was my friend @ImFiredUp. He was calling to tell me about SP, and find out what we could do to help him. Turns out they are close buddies because of their service.

It was then I was positive that this was a God thing, and I needed to help him. His condition is pretty terrible right now.

He served overseas and was injured in his deployment for Operation Enduring Freedom. He has many health issues, but the issues most harmful right now are the ones having to do with his heart. Because of his injuries, he is suffering from A-Fib. His medicines make it worse; he has already undergone an ablation with no success and suffers at risk of stroke daily. He's been to the ER more than 20 times for them to get him back in rhythm, but it never lasts for long. He is 35 years old.

The only surgery that promises to save his life and his hear is called the Wolf Mini Maze procedure. It is considered "out of network" at the VA and will not be covered. There are only two surgeons in the world who can perform this surgery; one is located in Houston, TX. The surgery is 90% effective and could potentially cure him.

This came across my path, and I couldn't just let it go by without trying to help him. This story is heart breaking.

SP set up a 501c3 a few years ago to give haircuts to vets on hospice. He is always giving back. He's really in need of some help, and I hope we can do what we can do. Please consider giving to save this man. I know there are so many vets in a bad spot, I just happen to have come across this one, and I really want to try to give him some hope.

Im hearing word that Hurricane reconnaissance flights are being discontinued into Ian because the lightning around the eye wall is so intense it poses too great a risk to the aircraft. This storm has 155mph sustained winds but wind gusts up to 190mph.
