Twenty years ago today, on Sept. 8, 2002, Dick Cheney appeared on Meet the Press, starting the push for the invasion of Iraq.

He cited a piece in the NYT from that morning which falsely claimed Iraq got aluminum tubes for a nuclear bomb.

The false story was actually planted by his own administration.

This is a commonly used technique by the government and its corporate media partners to manipulate public opinion.

For example, Anthony Fauci's emails show that he secretly helped craft the highly influential "Proximal Origin" paper that established the COVID natural origin narrative.

Fauci never told anyone that he helped write the paper, but he repeatedly cited the paper to the media in order to dismiss the lab leak hypothesis as a "conspiracy theory".
