Here's why I mentioned that. If you have a really deadly pathogen -- say, Ebola -- one of the things that happens is that it kills so many and so quickly that it "burns itself out" before it can reach a large fraction of the population. Something that is as transmissable as Omicron behaves differently: it spreads very fast, but isn't very deadly, so the result is it causes antibodies to be produced that limit future outbreaks. That's how milder pathogens "die out."

But... if you were "testing" a pathogen for the kinds of reasons mentioned in my "Depths of Evil" substack, you might deliberately engineer something with a high fatality rate: so that you can run your test on a small population, but the virus will burn itself out before it gets too widespread. You can contain the damage while you check the results (DNA modification through viral payloads.)
