The Left is Now Complaining That Conservatives are Manipulating Social Media - Interview: You’re Being Manipulated (The Atlantic)

Political partisans are using social media to divide, dominate, disorient, and ultimately demoralize the people on the other side.

Comment: Jonathan Rauch believes he knows 'the truth.' He also calls Donald Trump "a genius-level propaganda operative.” This is a fairly dangerous combination, as it basically guarantees that Mr. Rauch has a built-in prejudice to determine two things: (1) Whatever Donald Trump says must be wrong, and (2) Whatever he says or gleans from his echo chamber must be correct. And weirdly (1) and (2) reach the same end-point more often than not.

Critical Race Theory, Anti-Racism, White Hatred, Racial Preference, Equity, Cancel Culture in Education, Government, and the Military - Opinion: The Rise of Anti-history (The Atlantic)

Ideas

The Trumpist wing of the GOP uses history as a bludgeon, without regard to context, logic, or proportionality.

Comment: Mr. Graham writes "Conspiracist thinking, another hallmark of Trumpism, is anti-history’s natural partner. Each snatches isolated facts or claims out of their proper context, fabricates new contexts for them without regard to reality, and fashions them into partisan weapons."

Sorry, sir, I find you on the wrong side of anti-history or pro-history. I have studied history. I try to teach history using middle and high school history textbooks and original texts.

Anti-history and 'snatches of isolated facts' used to 'fabricate new contexts' sounds awfully like the writings of Howard Zinn, Ibram X. Kendi, and Nikole Hannah-Jones. The history of the United States is a tapestry. Conservatives know this. Liberals want to rewrite this to conform to their narrative du jour.

How do I arrive at such a conclusion so diametrically opposed to yours? Who is demanding the takedown of statues, Taliban-style. Who is upending the education foundation of our public and private schools? And who is pushing the indoctrination, vice the teaching of history in education, government, and the military? It is not the 'Trumpist wing' of the GOP performing such historical slight-of-hand, it is the progressive Democratic party and the sycophantic media, in which you reside.

Here's some good news most people already forgot: Marc Elias of Perkins Coie is still loudly whining and complaining about that huge Supreme Court ruling in AZ that banned the ballot harvesting. That's a good barometer on how things are headed.

Elias and that phalanx of Democrat lawyers that went around the battlegrounds before the 2020 election doing end runs around the state legislatures to set up ballot harvesting schemes are really pissed at the Supreme Court right now for refusing to ditch the law passed by the AZ state legislature that banned ballot harvesting in their state. All that 'good work' Elias and Co. put into 'fortifying' the 2020 election is being undone.

Any other state that has it's state legislature move to ban the ballot harvesting schemes that Marc Elias and other Democrats worked so hard to get into place before the 2020 election just had the road plowed for them by AZ. And Marc Elias is still screaming about it. This was a good week.
