UPDATE: OC DA Todds Pitzer just threw the book at the woman arrested for purposely fatally crushing a puppy with her vehicle in Santa Ana, CA. 75-year-old Hahn Nguyen has now been charged felony animal cruelty and felony animal abuse a felony enhancement for personal use of a weapon.

Spitzer is charging these wobbler offenses as felonies instead of misdemeanors and the felony enhancement will add potential prison time.

“This act of violence not only ended the life of an innocent puppy, but it also inflicted trauma on every single person who came across the video footage of the murder of an animal. Violence is not a singular act. It inflicts pain and suffering on those who are subjected to it and on those who witness it. As the elected District Attorney of Orange County, I refuse to accept a society in which violence of any kind is acceptable. Let me be clear that those who engage in violence in Orange County, whether it is against human beings or animals, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.”

At 7:06 a.m. on December 4, 2025, Brian J. Cole Jr. was arrested while walking to a 7-Eleven near his home. The FBI took Cole to a staging area and then to the Washington Field Office, where they interviewed him.

Agents first ask Cole about his personal history, his family, his work, and the rest of his background. When they get to the pipe bombs, Cole initially denies any connection. He offers a cover story. He denies, denies, and denies. He gets on what I call the anxiety hamster wheel. Then, after the agents show him some of the evidence and explain how overwhelming the totality of it is, Cole begins to confess to all of it.

Thanks to a filing the defense made this week, a transcript of that interview is now public. In this video, we read it. All of it.
