If you occupy the bases on these islands in the Strait of Hormuze, can you focus tactical aircraft and strategic aircraft on the Iranian shore and inland of the shore, you take away the Iranians ability to use the three tools they’re employing to stop shipping: sea mines, drone boats, & land based anti ship missiles. The fast attack boats of the IRGC have been almost totally exterminated by A-10s & Apache helicopters operating over the gulf.
