NEW - A man wielding a knife attacked police during a ceremony beneath the Arc de Triomphe, Paris. Another officer shot the attacker, who was hospitalized. French counter-terrorism is investigating.

UPDATE - Attacker Brahim B, a 48-year-old French citizen, died. He was previously jailed in Belgium in 2013 and sentenced to 17 years for attempted murder and terrorism after attacking three police officers, stating he wanted to punish the country for introducing the burqa ban. He was transferred to France to complete his sentance and then released in Dec 2025.
