Las Vegas: Sheriff Kevin McMahill provided an update Saturday regarding a search warrant involving a suspected biological laboratory inside a residence near Washington Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard.

This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

On January 31, 2026, at approximately 5:51 a.m., LVMPD SWAT officers served a search warrant at a home on Sugar Springs Drive in northeast Las Vegas. The warrant was based on information indicating a biological laboratory may have been inside the residence.

At the same time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted a search at a nearby home on Temple View Drive. No threat was found at that location.

Inside the Sugar Springs Drive residence, investigators located evidence of possible biological material, including refrigerators containing vials with unknown liquids.

LVMPD’s All-Hazard Regional Multi-agency Operations and Response (ARMOR) Section is working closely with the FBI, local fire departments, and other partners to ensure the safe recovery and mitigation of these items.

This remains a complex, multi-agency investigation involving numerous specialized resources. The ongoing first responder presence in the area over the past several days is part of a slow, methodical process by design. These situations are handled with extreme caution to ensure the safety of both personnel and the community.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Chris Delzotto emphasized the FBI’s role in supporting state and local partners through specialized laboratory, evidence response, scientific analysis, and technical hazards resources.

One suspect has been taken into custody. Additional information will be released today at a news conference scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
