Maricopa turned red in 1952 and was even won by Bob Dole when he lost AZ in 1996 for the only GOP loss of the state between 1952 and 2016.

Trump won Maricopa in 2016 with fewer votes than Romney had in 2012, then set a GOP record there for votes gained in one election in 2020, just to lose the county for the first time in 72 years.
