If this is the end of the road for McConnell, here are the rules.
Democrat governor must appoint the replacement but will pick from (presumably) three Republican choices.
This means that McConnell’s seat, should he retire, will go to the most harmless Republican the Kentucky political machine can find.
Kentucky grassroots needs to be on the ball in pressuring the GOP executive committee on the picks.
