I promised him i would give him as many days as i could possibly give. My goal was atleast 8 years. To balance out the 8 years of horror the first half of his life had been. Sadly i lost him to a collapsing trachea at just shy of his 14th ‘gotcha’ day. I still miss him badly. Watching him grow taught me so much & shaped who i am. The hardest day of my life was holding him as he crossed over to go to Heaven. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Im not saying that purchased dogs arent wonderful, but rescue is something apart. You become an angel of mercy for someone who is totally without the ability to help themselves & needs an angel.

There exists a bond with a rescue, a gratitude & love, that is unique.

I lost Howie in march of 2017. In April, I rescued Teddy, who you all know very well.

Howie wanted me to save someone else who needed me, and a rescue coordinator close friend told me about Teddy. These are his first moments home from the shelter.

They arent possessions we buy and use up and discard. And the rescues need us more. Theres always someone who will buy that cute puppy. But i am asking you for Howie, and for Teddy to please choose a rescue. I promise you it will be the best decision you’ve ever made, but it will be challenging.
