This one is a tear jerker. A lot of people go to breeders & buy their dogs. They see it like choosing a new pair of shoes, or like buying a car. But the reality is, shelters & rescues are OVERFLOWING with pure bred animals who came from those same breeders. Many people think they’re damaged goods. They see them the way they see a salvaged car for sale, or ..i dont know. Less than.
The reality is they are wonderful little souls, survivors. Some of them who have survived untold horrors & just want the chance to be HOME. To be LOVED. To be FAMILY.
Ive never bought a dog in my entire life, & i never will. The greatest sight youll ever be a part of is seeing a dog you rescued realize he or she is home, is safe. That transformation changes you. Its the sweetest thing youll ever experience, but also one of the most heartbreaking with the realization of what it must have taken to cause that fear, and how deep it *was*….before you came for them.
Please….stop *buying* dogs— start rescuing them. Start supporting those who do this for these souls.

Meet Howie. My first rescue. When i adopted Howie from a local shelter, he weighed 55% of what he should have. Two of his legs didnt work right & when i met him he ran and ran on two legs and stumbled trying to avoid all human contact. He was 8 years old when he was abandoned because he wasnt fit to breed any more, so they threw him away like trash.
