Ovinnik (Овинник, the Threshing Barn Spirit)

Ovinnik is the spirit of the threshing barn in Slavic folklore—dangerous, hostile, and destructive. He appears as a huge black cat with burning eyes or a soot-covered old man.

He hates prayer and the sign of the cross. If displeased, he sets the barn on fire, scatters grain, or crushes workers. Those who fall asleep inside are suffocated or have their necks twisted.

He can be appeased once a year (January 10th) with an offering of jelly or roasted chicken, left after midnight while walking backward. Never look behind you.

Ovinnik represents the terrifying power of the harvest—wealth that can feed or burn in an instant.

✍️🇫🇷 I wrote yesterday that President Emmanuel Macron has been conducting a surprisingly good foreign policy recently. This consists of several decisions, which I will briefly recall and describe.

1. Official recognition of the State of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly.

In my opinion, this is the most important decision from the standpoint of justice, morality, sensitivity, and decency. This was Macron’s first geopolitical decision that set the direction France would take. It is a direction opposite to the American imperial project and Israeli Zionist imperialism.
Recognizing Palestine was a slap in the face to the criminal Netanyahu and to Trump.

2. Expanding the French nuclear deterrent program to cover nearly all of Europe. This is a clear sign of France’s return to its ambitions as a European empire — something France has been for most of its history.

It is also an obvious attempt to marginalize Germany in Europe, and that is a good thing.

3. Apart from Italy, France is the only EU state that is beginning to suggest the need to restore at least decent relations with Russia. Of course, these are only attempts, because the rest of Europe — perhaps except Italy — will not allow it, but it is a fact worth noting.

4. Emmanuel Macron is waging a personal battle against Donald Trump. He opposes him on almost everything. He was also the leader most engaged in opposing Trump’s threats against Greenland at the beginning of this year.

5. France’s support for Lebanon, and its opposition to the actions of the Zionist state occupying Palestine.

6. Blocking, in the UN Security Council, the US resolution calling for support for America in opening the Strait of Hormuz.

7. Building relations between Europe and Asia in opposition to the United States.

🇵🇱 The head of the chancellery of Polish President Karol Nawrocki said that Western countries should send a military mission to support the United States in opening the Strait of Hormuz.

The president and his chancellery have faced a wave of criticism from all sides for expressing support for dragging Poland into a war, backing American aggression, and displaying submissiveness toward Trump.

✍️🇪🇺 If you call yourself a European nationalist, conservative, or right-winger, and you don't have the courage to admit that — hey — Israel has too much influence over our political movements and political parties in Europe, and you call Israel an ally of the conservative struggle, then you're not a right-winger at all — you're just a liberal who's been brainwashed by the media.

Supporting Israel on the right is nothing other than the redistribution of cruelty. Someone hates migrants so much that they rejoice when Israel commits genocide against the Arab population in Palestine, but at the same time they're afraid of even the suggestion that they might be antisemitic — because that would mean losing their place in the mainstream and the respect of the liberal media.

Rusalka (Русалка)

Rusalka is a female water spirit in Slavic folklore—a restless soul of the unclean dead. She was once a woman who drowned, died of heartbreak, or was unbaptized.

She appears as a beautiful young woman with long pale hair and deathly white skin. Up close, she shows waterweed in her hair and empty, glowing eyes.

Rusalka is vengeful and lonely. She lures men to their death with singing, tickles victims until they drown, or steals children. During the green week (after Pentecost), she leaves the water and walks the forests and fields.

To protect yourself: carry wormwood or garlic, avoid swimming alone at night, and never answer a voice calling from the water. If she appears, throw her a scarf—she will stop to count the threads.

Unlike Vodyanoy, rusalka is not a master but a victim—beautiful, tragic, and deadly. She is the sorrow of unfinished lives, waiting by the water for someone to join her.
