Dating apps have reduced interracial dating:
For years, leftist activist-academics have pressured dating apps into promoting miscegenation by crafting algorithms that show "more enthusiasm for diversity" and developing "theories and practices of design that unsettle entrenched preferences" (Levy, 2018).
"Dating platforms have the opportunity to disrupt particular social structures... designing platforms to make it easier for people of different races to meet could overcome biases" (Cornell University, 2018).
The extent to which dating apps modified their algorithms is unknown but some measures have been taken. Numerous dating apps have removed race/ethnicity filters, largely in response to BLM hysteria circa 2020, and, in one case, an app was forced by the Dutch government to modify its "racist" algorithm.
Nevertheless, a new 2026 study found that the increased use of dating apps increases the percentage of same-race couples, while decreasing assortative mating based on education and employment status.
