13,000 citizens of the Russian Federation who have a residence permit in Latvia registered for the exam, according to the State Education Center (VISC) - many are pensioners who have been living in Latvia since the times of the USSR.

Sweden's criminal gangs are using fake Spotify streams to launder money, according to a report by the Svenska Dagbladet.

The networks have been using money from drug deals, robberies, fraud and contract killings to pay for false Spotify streams of songs published by artists with ties to the gangs, the investigative report states.

The platform then pays them for the high number of streams, thereby laundering the money.

The newspaper said its information had been confirmed by four gang members from separate criminal networks in Stockholm, as well as an anonymous police investigator.

A trainee soldier was declared dead on Tuesday after falling unwell during military exercises at the Oranjekazerne barracks in Gelderland.

The man was given first aid after becoming ill at the start of the exercise and was later taken to hospital where he died some hours later, the Dutch defence ministry said.

The cause of the soldier’s death is unclear. Military police have begun an investigation.
