As the carnage unfolded before her, Alper pulled a few disoriented-looking revelers into her car from the street and accelerated in the opposite direction. One of them said he had lost his wife in the chaos and Alper had to stop him from breaking out of the car to find her. Another said she had just seen Hamas gunmen shoot and kill her best friend. Another rocked in his seat, murmuring over and over, “We are going to die.” In the review mirror, Alper watched the dance floor where she had spent the past ecstatic hours transform into a giant cloud of black smoke.

The Health Ministry says 2,616 people have been treated at hospitals since Saturday.

According to the ministry, 578 people are currently hospitalized, including 157 in serious condition, 259 in moderate condition.

The government has also appointed a representative for kidnapped and missing Israelis, Gal Hirsch. He says: “We are creating a full situational picture and are working at full strength to create an effective system” for families to turn to.

The statement appears to be in response to numerous complaints that the government has abandoned those with loved ones missing or kidnapped, offering no help or information.

🔴 The death toll from the Hamas onslaught is now over 900, Hebrew media report.

There has been no official confirmation of the death toll.

Over 2,000 have been injured with more than 500 still hospitalized since the massive assault began Saturday.

Terrorists have taken hostage over 100 people - many of them civilians - though there has been no official confirmation on this either.

IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari says Israel is completing clearing southern Israel of terrorists and has information on all Israelis taken hostage in Gaza.

“As of now, we have notified 30 families. When we complete notifying the families, the number of hostages in Gaza will be made available to the public."
