NPCI UPI AutoPay facility introduced for recurring payment

The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) launched the functionality of UPI AutoPay for recurring payments today. With this new facility introduced under UPI 2.0, customers can now enable recurring e-mandate using any UPI application for recurring payments such as mobile bills, electricity bills, EMI payments, entertainment/OTT subscriptions, insurance, mutual funds and loan payments, paying for transit/metro payments among others of up to Rs 2000. If the amount exceeds Rs 2000, customers have to execute every mandate with UPI PIN.

Speaking on the launch, Dilip Asbe, MD and CEO at NPCI said, “The launch of UPI AutoPay is a step ahead in India’s journey towards digitization. We have been witnessing a lot of changes in the way customers are making recurring payments over the last few years. The UPI AutoPay offering would provide millions of UPI user’s convenience and safety while making recurring payments. We believe this facility will not only benefit customers, but also merchants with an all new recurring payments experience. We also hope to achieve new milestones by expanding UPI’s presence especially in the P2M payment space”.

Rajnish Kumar, Chairman, SBI said, “We are glad to witness the launch of UPI AutoPay facility at this momentous event. We believe this unique facility would enable customers to streamline their recurring bill payments and help them get rid of paying those bills manually. It is a pleasure to watch both banks and digital payment ecosystems collectively working towards providing utmost convenience to customers. We are confident that the coming years would bring in various innovative digital payments solutions keeping in mind customers ease of payments convenience and safety.”

Any UPI-enabled application would also have a ‘Mandate’ section, through which customers can create, approve, modify, pause as well as revoke auto debit mandate. The mandate section will allow customers to view their past mandates for their reference and records. UPI users can create e-mandate through UPI ID, QR scan or Intent. The pattern for auto debit mandate has been created keeping in mind customers’ spends on recurring payments. The mandates can be set for one-time, daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, half yearly and yearly.

Both, individual users and merchants can benefit from this feature tremendously, as mandates are generated instantly and payments get deducted automatically on the authorized date. The customers have to authenticate their account through UPI PIN for one-time and subsequent monthly payments would be debited automatically.
How to enable new Start Menu in Windows 10

Microsoft recently announced a refresh Start Menu for the Windows 10 operating system, which the company is currently testing. Recently, we reported that the feature could soon be available to everyone earlier than expected.

Currently, the feature is available to Developers with the Insider Builds but it is only available to a small set of testers, just like most other Windows 10 features in the testing phase.

In this guide, we will show you how you can enable the new Start Menu feature on your Windows 10 computer using the ViveTool. If you are unaware, ViveTool can be used to activate hidden functions which are not released by the company.

To activate hidden featureusing the ViveTool, you need to configure it with the specific number for the feature. In our case, the number for the new Start Menu is 23615618 2.

Step 1: Download the ViveTool utility on your computer.

Step 2: Now extract the downloaded file into a folder.

Step 3: Open the Command Prompt in the administrator mode. To do so, search for the term “cmd” in the Start Menu, right-click on the Command Prompt and select “Run as administrator.”

Step 4: In the command prompt, go to the directory location where the extracted ViveTool utility is placed. For example, “C:UsersMobiGyaanDesktopViveTool”

Step 5: Now, type in the following text and then hit enter key:
ViVeTool.exe addconfig 23615618 2

Step 6: After that is done, restart your computer.

When your Windows 10 computer starts, you will notice the new Start Menu.

Along with the updated Start menu, Microsoft is also expected to release updated Edge browser-related features. It will reportedly include support for showing all Edge tabs in the Alt-tab windows screen.

NPCI to expand payments network with NFC, looks to challenge private heavyweights: Report

The technology would also benefit NPCI’s Rupay card and other similar services, besides UPI

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is looking to add near-field communication (NFC) capabilities to its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and is reportedly in talks with payment aggregators to push the product across point-of-sale (POS) devices.

The access to POS and NFC capability will likely expand UPI’s reach to offline merchants increase the peer-to-merchant transaction and compete with private payment networks, sources told Mint.

Moneycontrol could not independently verify the report

“NPCI wants to target the 5 million POS machines in India which are doing well and registering high-value transactions. Enabling NFC is the only way to tap into this… it will however face resistance from offline payment aggregators and POS manufacturers,” a senior banker told the paper.

Private players Mastercard and Visa expanded contactless networks using NFC through tap-on-go payments systems, they added. NFC-enabled tap-on-go cards allow customers to tap the card instead of swiping at POS terminals. The technology would also benefit NPCI’s Rupay card and other similar services, besides UPI, the report said.

However, both private players already have strong partnerships with banks and POS providers, while NPCI may face some push-back as existing alliances will be challenged, the banker said, adding: “It is yet to be seen how NPCI incentivises the offline payment ecosystem to adopt this offering.”

NPCI and Visa did not respond to queries, the report said.

The company is further looking to collaborate with smartphone manufacturers to embed the NFC function directly into devices, and plans to then expand this to large format stores. For phone users, NPCI is also looking to collaborate with banks to issue prepaid-cards and vouchers on the UPI network as an alternative to QR-codes
