Everyone's focused on oil β€” but it's not just oil:

- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) imports 80-90% of its food
- Saudi Arabia, 80%
- Kuwait, 95%

With the Strait closed (or even "open" but with rates exploding 650%), the literal lifeline of these nations is cut off.

And yes, with UAE/Saudi Arabia/Qatar stopping oil production, we are quickly entering an energy crisis that will have DRASTIC effects on food availability and pricing.

Be prepared...

But it may not be the typical examples of the power grid or banks--food production is also highly vulnerable. The government has already been conducting tabletop exercises about what how such a cyberattack might cripple US farm activity. Let's talk about it.

Dubai has only 10 days of fresh food remaining, according to reports.

As I posted yesterday, many Middle East countries import the vast majority of their food supply β€” and are now unable to do so. When people can't eat, things get hairy quickly β€” remember the Arab Spring was caused by bread prices...

This is a very serious situation with global consequences.

"Stefan Paul, CEO of global logistics giant Kuehne + Nagel, told Swiss broadcaster SRF on Thursday that the estimate is based on supply chain data monitored by his company."

(And now is a great time to be getting that garden ready for this season...)
