Major development in Charlie Kirk assassination case:

The bullet recovered from conservative commentator Charlie Kirk does not match the rifle allegedly used by suspect Tyler Robinson, 22, according to a bombshell court filing by his defense team.

The initial damage Charlie sustained after the impact of an alleged, .30-06 rifle round did not match the catastrophic damage that should have been induced from an .30-06 rifle round as well.

Robinson faces capital murder charges and a possible death sentence for the September 10 shooting at Utah Valley University. Prosecutors claim he drove three hours from home to carry out the killing.

In a motion filed Friday seeking to delay the preliminary hearing by at least six months, Robinson's attorneys cite an ATF report stating the agency "was unable to identify the bullet… to the rifle allegedly tied to Mr. Robinson." They intend to present this as exculpatory evidence.

The filing also highlights complex DNA mixtures on multiple evidence items, requiring forensic biologists, geneticists, and statisticians for full analysis, plus over 20,000 pages of audio, video, and documents turned over by prosecutors. A new hearing date is pending.
