My heart always skips a beat whenever I get the call from my friends at @Make-A-Wish letting me know we have a “Rush Wish” that needs to happen right away. On March 11th, I had the privilege of making Kane’s wish come true - and despite not being able to speak when we met, I FELT this little boy’s SMILE, and felt this little boy’s MANA. His mana was beautiful. His mana was strong. One week later on March 18th, brave Kane passed on. Kane LOVED MAUI and loved bringing his Maui hook 🪝 everywhere he went. He also wanted to sing “You’re Welcome” 🎶 🌊 and that’s exactly what we did. He may have been quiet, but in his heart, Kane was just singing away.... To his parents, Charles and Christine, I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. Sending all my love, light and aloha. Stay strong. And lastly, to his twin brother, Dennis.. Coming back to MAUI was very emotional for all of us 🥹🤎 Headlines always cycle out of the news very fast, and people going through hard times can feel forgotten about. One of my jobs is to make sure Lahaina/Maui is never forgotten - and to bring moments of joy, comfort and smiles as much as I can. The struggle and rebuild of Lahaina/Maui continues, BUT the resilience, strength & PRIDE of our people and culture remains steadfast and inspiring. This is who we are as Kanaka Maoli. Who we are as Polynesians. We protect. We love. We show up. People will always make noise, but in the end, we saw very few come back to make positive things happen. How bout this proof how life can sometimes come full circle? ⭕️💫❤️ I’ve had the privilege of granting hundreds and hundreds of kid’s wishes from @Make-A-Wish and every single one has changed my life every single time. And looking back to when I was a kid - my dad, Rocky Johnson was actually one of Make-A-Wish’s VERY FIRST WISH GRANTERS back in the 80’s. My dad was a very tough, no BS guy who wasn’t big on emotions. But when I saw him take this little boy, Bobby out of his wheelchair and hold him in his arms - I’d never seen my dad so loving, warm, caring and ATTENTIVE in my life. As a kid I remember thinking how surprised I was seeing my dad that warm and how cool it was to me, that my dad was a hero. But now as a man, I look back and think that the REAL HERO is that little boy Bobby, and my dad was LUCKY to have the honor of making little Bobby’s wish come true. I don’t have a ton of memories of my dad being so loving like this so it means a lot to me to relive this...

Opening a birthday gift - one of the most meaningful gifts I’ve ever received. A ticket 🎟️ to a wrestling show I attended when I was 11yrs old to watch my dad wrestle. Who would’ve thought years later I’d hold this ticket, and wishing I had one more shot to say hello (or goodbye) to my old man. As a kid, we were always on the road and I don’t remember my dad smiling much, as he was always mentally tired and his body banged up and in pain from the nightly grind - but he did find moments of PEACE when he was wrestling in that squared circle. Even in this video you see my dad attempting a SLIGHT SMILE 🙂 I know I’m not easy to buy gifts for, so VERY thoughtful gifts like this mean the world to me from my loved ones. Mahalo brother Brad.
