After completing Bayer's takeover of Monsanto they dropped the Monsanto name, merging the two companies' agrochemical divisions under the Bayer CropScience Limited name.

IG Farben executive (1925 to 1945) Fritz ter Meer, was tried for mass medical murder and slavery (planning of Monowitz, a satellite concentration camp of KZ Auschwitz.), and sentenced to a paltry 7 years in jail. Commuted after 3 years, whereafter he went to occupy a post as chairman of the advisory board of Bayer, a "branch on the tree" of IG Farben.
IG Farben Break-up and Liquidation
Due to the severity of the war crimes committed by IG Farben during World War II, the company was meant to be put out of business.
Instead, in 1951, the company was split up into the original constituent companies.
The 4 largest quickly bought the smaller ones. Today only Agfa, BASF, and Bayer remain, while Hoechst merged with the French Rhône-Poulenc Rorer to form Aventis (now Sanofi-Aventis), now based in Strasbourg, France.
