The Fluoride Action Network has brought a lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency seeking to ban the deliberate addition of fluoride to American water supplies
The Fluoride Action Network (FAN) filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2016, seeking to prohibit the intentional addition of fluoride to public water supplies under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). FAN’s lawsuit argues that fluoride in drinking water poses potential health risks, including neurodevelopmental effects, that are not adequately addressed under current EPA guidelines.
Key reasons for the lawsuit include:
1. Concerns over Neurotoxicity: FAN cites several studies that associate high fluoride exposure with reduced IQ in children, suggesting that even relatively low levels of fluoride may affect brain development. They reference research, including studies from Harvard and subsequent meta-analyses, indicating potential links between fluoride and adverse cognitive effects. FAN argues that the EPA should regulate fluoride based on this potential neurotoxic risk, particularly for children.
2. Protection of Vulnerable Populations: FAN highlights that certain populations, such as young children and individuals with specific genetic profiles, might be more susceptible to the adverse effects of fluoride. They argue that current water fluoridation practices do not account for these differences in susceptibility, thus failing to protect the most vulnerable.
3. Debate over Effectiveness: While the EPA and other health organizations endorse fluoride for preventing dental decay, FAN contends that the risks may outweigh the benefits, especially with the widespread availability of fluoride in other sources like toothpaste. They suggest that other, safer public health measures could achieve similar results in improving dental health.
4. TSCA Petition and Legal Action: FAN’s legal strategy leverages the TSCA, which gives the EPA the authority to regulate chemicals that pose an unreasonable risk to health. In 2020, after years of hearings and expert testimonies, a federal judge acknowledged the potential merit in FAN’s arguments and ordered the EPA to review evidence on fluoride neurotoxicity further.
The outcome of this lawsuit could impact public health policies on water fluoridation in the U.S. as the debate over fluoride's safety and efficacy continues among scientists, policymakers, and public health advocates.

Fluoride: The Unseen Poison in Our Water Supply
Today, 74% of water community systems are fluoridated to help prevent tooth decay. But many scientists are now disagreeing with this practice.

Is non-natural fluoride added to UK drinking water?
🇬🇧 In the UK, fluoride is typically added to drinking water in the form of fluorosilicic acid, which is derived from the 👉😱 byproducts of phosphate fertilizer production. This is considered an "unnatural" form of fluoride because it is a byproduct of industrial processes, unlike the naturally occurring fluoride found in some groundwater
sources

https://fluoridealert.org/content/environment-73/
While the fluoride itself is chemically similar to naturally occurring fluoride, its addition to the water supply is a deliberate, controlled process meant to reach optimal levels for dental health. Fluoride in the UK is only added to water in areas where it is legally approved for fluoridation, and only when the natural fluoride concentration is insufficient to provide dental benefits

On 25th March 2024, the Government announced “plans” for enhanced water fluoridation in the North East of England. A consultation is launched alongside these plans, the results of which will be ignored, for your safety.
Nonetheless, if the consultation is not responded to, there are no sticks with which to beat the Government, and only limited justification for taking action.
To get you in the mood, this is an excerpt from the press release:
“Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral which protects teeth against decay. Natural levels of fluoride in water can be safely topped up to provide additional protection for teeth and reduce dental health inequalities, with decades of research showing it is effective and safe.”

Fluoride Could Be Putting Your Fetus' Neurological Development at Risk
– Research suggests that exposure to fluoridated water during your pregnancy may lead to severe consequences for your fetus, such as behavioral problems
– Children who drink fluoridated water may have delayed cognitive development as they grow. Published studies suggest that drinking fluoridated water may result in lower IQ compared to other children who had lower exposure to fluoride
– Investing in a water filtration system capable of removing fluoride is your safest choice if your local water source is still being fluoridated
– Making your own toothpaste can help minimize your exposure to fluoride, protecting your and your child’s health in the long run

“We can do to the farmers what Thatcher did to the miners. It’s an industry we could do without. We don’t need small farmers.”
He is just saying out loud what they ALL think!
With this in mind, I hope the farmers are not simply just going to turn up with their tractors and go around in circles at Parliament Square on Tues 19th November.
Farmers need to grow more than just vegetables if they want to protect their livelihoods!
Take example from the Dutch.
