"I now come to the latest example of mass medication—the addition of fluorides to water supplies. It is well known that fluorides are deadly poisons. On this account, sodium fluoride is largely used as a rat poison. At one time fluorides were used as preservatives in foods, but the use in foods is now prohibited by law. The addition of fluorides to the public water supplies must, therefore, be a matter of grave concern."

STV journalists on strike over bid for pay rise

The union claims about a third of newsroom staff at STV are earning less than the starting salary of a teacher and that most earn less than a teacher with five years' experience.

Members of the NUJ union at the company want a 6% pay rise.
