We must take immediate action to prevent the government's proposed new Digital ID verification system from becoming a reality.
The Government asserts that this approach will enhance service delivery and decrease fraud, but we doubt the underlying goals behind this suggestion. Your name, address, date of birth, photographs, driving licence number, passport number and even transaction data would be shared with the government as part of this system.
Moreover, the proposed system would give the Government scope to monitor our online activities and track our movements through the use of facial recognition and ANPR cameras.
To defend our human rights and stop the government from establishing this Digital ID scheme, we must unite as one. We have created a guide on how to fill in the consultation as we recognise that this one in particular is complex and hard to navigate.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday declared a national "state of disaster" over his country's crippling power shortages, saying they posed an existential threat to the economy and social fabric.

Disaster rules go hand in hand with military state protocols. It infringes upon one's human rights.
The regulations set to protect also fall away. Think of how they bypassed vaccine regulations.
Normally 3 quotes is needed for when Eskom contracts work out. State if ebetgejcy means no regulation and open doors for corruption because the accountability has been removed. They need not get 3 quotes. So contracts can be dished out to friends of friends.
Like with China and communism, theid like the state of emergency to be permanent.
